The only answer choice for Blank (ii) that has this meaning is “end,” so it is correct. The answer to Blank (i) must be a word that denotes the initial phase of a gradual process that ends with the complete elimination of the media’s influence; the answer choice that fits this meaning is “erode,” so it is correct. Thus the correct answer is erode (Choice B) and end (Choice F).



句子的意思不难理解，这位governor一直致力于excising the media from the politician-public relationship. 所以，第二空很明显就是end。我的疑问是在第一个空。我理解的提示词是第二句话，“that's been the unifying aim of all her seemingly disconnected ventures since entering public life.” 尽管这位governor的总目标是不变的，但是其具体行为是“seemingly disconnected。” 所以第一个空我选了“rejuvenate，”为了和最终的“end”形成“seemingly disconnected。”
如果按照官方提供的解释，为什么conceal不可以呢？先行谢过了！

seemingly disconnected ventures 是指这个人看上去间断不连续的任期，其实还是做得是同一个事情，那就是erode和end，不是说具体行为，这是一个时间修饰，和句子意思没太大关系，逻辑还是延续的

多谢多谢～想了下还是这样解释：disconnected只是说明行为之间没有必然的联系，不一定是要转折，再联系整句句子的话c选项就说不过去了……conceal这里不行是因为这位governor的目的是“excising” media，那么erode有这个效果，conceal没有这个效果。

由最后 the media's hold on political communication.可以看出州长的aim没成功，所以冒号后句子是统一表达这个意思，所以应该determination最开始被erode，然后end了，所以media还是
hold on political communication.

- excise是切除的意思，是红宝的单词，所以红宝还是很重要的
- obsess是困扰的意思，3000难度
- rejuvenate，也是红宝的单词，使返老还童，参考：juvenile: adj.年轻的
- erode是慢慢减少，conceal是隐藏，隐瞒
- 根据意思，显然是这个govenor一直想把media从politician-public关系中割裂出来，这也是她看似不相关的经历中的同一目标，先慢慢减少最终完全终止media对于policital沟通的掌控

我也刚开始做150新题，觉得比magoosh简单一些，但是有很多比较tricky的选项一粗心大意就会错掉，希望可以多交流:lol
