先把题贴上来：

再贴上ets的解释：

Reading the sentence again with “deceptive” and “dissimilar” in place confirms those choices.
Thus the correct answer is deceptive(Choice C) and dissimilar(Choice E)

yet后面那个句子难道不是说：这些候选人的宣传通过微笑和空洞的口号这样的“烟雾弹”来掩盖他们重要的区别吗？这里的differences韦氏词典有五个意思：

结合语境看，differences应该还是指的是”区别“的意思。

那么第二个空所在的那个句子

通常政治候选者的差异很大，但是他们的宣传往往通过一些手段（smoke screens of smiles and empty slogans )来掩盖他们的重要差异。

这个怎么能够说明Political advertising很deceptive?

而且楼主觉得dissimilar 反映不出后面的smoke screens of smiles and empty slogans（烟雾弹）。

楼主做第二空的时候心里想的词是一个类似devious，invidious之类的；

搞不懂，求高人指点一下
