首先我查了一个生词
every bit： in every way 表示强调
quarry：an animal or person that is being hunted or chased （来源Merriam-Webster Learner's Dictionaries）

Cryptozoology（某种学科）是建立在一种概念(notion)之上

a notion that is every bit as ___________ as the very quarry it aims to study:
（这种概念和这个学科想要研究的 quarry(暂且理解为对象吧)一样（）
括号对应红线）

冒号表示填入词和冒号之后的内容是相同的方向
one cannot disprove the existence of that which does not exist（无法证明一个不存在的东西不存在）
这样的概念是如何的呢？根据这句话的意思来看看选项
1神秘 2无可辩驳的 3谨慎的 4难以抓住，难以找到 5基本的

证明一个不存在的事物不存在这样的概念可以说是elusive
查了一下韦氏词典这个词的解释是hard to understand, define, or remember.
虽然一开始也在1上面犹豫了一下。

希望能够听取大侠的意见，不知道自己理解的对不对？

这道题官方的答案已经讲的很清楚了啊

首先要猜 Crypto-zoology 是什么意思
其次这个空里的形容词必须要同时能够形容 notion 和 quarry (当然也要猜出 Crypto-zoology 的 quarry 是什么)
最后才再来看这个 notion "one cannot disprove the existence of that which does not exist."

然后选词

A, B, C, E 不对原因都是因为它们只能形容其中一者, 不能同时形容两者.

至于详细的

A 可以形容 quarry 不能形容 notion
B 可以形容 notion 不能形容 quarry
C 可以形容 notion 不能形容 quarry
E 可以形容 notion 不能形容 quarry

只有 D 同时说这个 quarry 和 notion 是 difficult to catch, understand or remember
