I am looking for motivated PhD students to join us in the summer of 2016.

Our research interests are mainly in Computer Graphics, Computer Vision and their integration.  While Computer Graphics considers techniques for composing images (or design), Computer Vision attempts to make sense of input images (or design). Some of our recent projects include:
- Data-driven manga design: learning the design rules from existing manga and automatically apply the rules to new design.
- Saliency and object detection: automatically detecting important objects or potential object regions from input images.
- Object and Crowd Tracking/Animation: tracking and analyzing object/crowd movements in input videos to support animation.
- Sketch analysis: analyzing user input sketches so as to support touch-based user input.

My students are able to publish papers in top venues, including ACM SIGGRAPH and SIGGRAPH Asia (in graphics), IEEE CVPR, IEEE ICCV, IJCV and TPAMI (in vision), and ACM Multimedia (in multimedia).
