新人一枚，第一次发帖，请前辈赐教！给偶像教授发了2封邮件，都收到了回复，感觉云里雾里的不懂，意思，其中第一封教授抄送给了系里其他的三位教授包括管教务的。

第一封(开头＋结尾，中间两段评论了我的观点)：

While we welcome your application to the Ph.D. program here, you should know that it is a very competitive process. Individuals are not accepted to work with one faculty or another but only into the department as a whole.

By the way, if you are not accepted in the Ph.D. program, you can always think about coming here as a one-year fellow if you raised your own funds.

第二封我又看了他和学生的文献，总结了一下，提了自己的看法，就回了四个字，搞的我心灰意冷了：

谢谢你～可是第二封只有四个字也是醉了。。。

人家跟你说了，第一年是deparment圈养，不是advisor负责制。第二段是废话，吃饱了才自带干粮去当劳动力。

另外，不要随意去给别人的研究加以评论和建议，除非是对方主动询问你，否则这不会给你加任何印象分，反而会扣分。

= =所以回复只是出于礼貌么。。。感觉死掉了。。。他还推荐了他以前的中国学生论文给我。
