约9点,8:45到,9点叫到名字,安检,交表,按指纹,开始等候.
大厅约有200人不到,拥挤且嘈杂. 除了同去的lightangle,
还见到了gooney,toshiba,introspect,和一个签B1的牛dd.

vo: 5号lshz, 6号glassboy, 7号jfmm(微胖), 8号美男
gooney JJ美男手下1min过,早早得拿到了visa.
B1的dd 在lshz手下签,也很顺利的过了. lshz似乎确实喜欢浅绿色.
我和toshiba一队:)

大概11:20的时候我们金黄色一队的被领到6号窗口.glassboy
我们这队只有2个F1,剩下的都是探亲,还有1个商务和一个韩国mm
韩国mm很快过,探亲的一对5min过,商务5min过,探亲的一对过,
探亲的一对拒,大概是没有收入保障
glassboy声音不大,话也不多.汉语说得比边上lshz好些
lshz一直在笑,边上一对从头到底全都放过,除了一个少资料的.

G: Sonicjet!
S: Good day, sir! Here is my card.
G: (look at my I20) So why you will go to USA?
S: To pursue graduate study at Caltech.
G: What will you study?
S: I will study Environmental Science and Engineering, for a Ph.D degree
G: Is your current degree a bachelor's or masterate?
S: Bachelor, sir. Acutally I expect to get my BS this July.
G: (nod) So this July?
S: (nod) Yes sir.
G: What will you do after graduation?
S: After earning my doctorate at Caltech, I intend to join in the POPs
research center at Tsinghua University as a faculty member, I will strive
to be the leading scientist in this field.
G: Why you want to study in US?
S: Because US has the world leading ESE program. And In US I can learn what
I cannot learn in China. You know, Tsinghua University has the best ESE program
in China. But the strength of its program mainly lies in such conventional
areas as drinking water supply and wastewater treatment. When it comes to some
new fields, not much pioneering work is being conducted in our department.
G: So what do your parents do?
S: (Auspicious! I think)My father ... and my mother ...
G: (typing)
S: (Staring at him, without saying a single word)
G: So do you want to say something more?
S: Well, I received the email from the Dean of Graduate Study last night. He
asked me to give a letter to you. Would you please have a look at it?
G: O.k.
S: (Show the letter)
G: (Take a glimpse of the letter) Are your parents still working? or retired?
S: They are still working. You know male officer in China usually retire at the age of 60, it will be about 10 years before my father retires.
G: (nod) How many universities have you applied for?
S: X, and ...... gave me financial aid offer.
G: Why Caltech?
S: Because Caltech has one of the best ESE program, and its interdisciplinary
approach in teaching and research attracts me. Some faculty members are truly
leaders in the field I would like to work in.
G: Did you apply for Universities in China?
S: No, I didn't apply for any univresity in China.
G: But why?
S: Just as I have mentioned, I think at present China's ESE graduate programs
don't have adequate facility and expertise to support my future research work.
G: It's nonsense(-_-bb), but it's O.K. Go to window 10.
黄色小条飞出.
我回答的话并不很多,但一刻不停的再说,也一直很快.总感觉glassboy看我不顺眼,回答的时候没有半点的紧张,还好昨天准备了25问,似乎就是常规问题车轮战.自己在上面签,时间过得很快,不知道有没有5min.
至此,飞跃历程告一段落.
