先向哈佛申请 base loan，如果仍然预算不足，可以申请经认证的私人贷款。

International Students

The JD financial aid program is designed to help students from across the economic spectrum and around the world meet the expense of a law school education while preserving career choice options in the broadest range of law-related and public service fields. International students (any students who are not U.S. Citizens or non-citizens eligible for federal student aid) can apply for HLS need-based grant and loan assistance, and financial aid awards are determined using the same need-based approach that applies to students who are U.S. citizens. Harvard Law School provides institutional loans in place of U.S. Federal Direct Stafford Loans for international students.

Student Budget and Need

International students have the same standard student budget as domestic students, and aid is awarded according to the same formula. The first portion of demonstrated financial need is met through a “base loan” package (which, for international students, consists entirely of Harvard Law School Loans). The remaining financial need above the base loan package is met through Harvard Law School Grant assistance.

Applying for Aid

The application for international students is substantially the same as that for domestic students. After you are admitted, we will email you directions to log into the SFS Self-Service Portal, our secure online financial aid system. In the SFS Self-Service Portal you will submit the Student Application form, which will then create a personalized list of requirements. This list typically includes requests for submission of some International Income Documentation. For more details on the application process, visit the Apply For Aid Overview.

Important Note About Supplemental Borrowing Options

For international students, Harvard Law School Grant or Loans are offered to students with demonstrated financial need. The remaining cost, up to the standard student budget, can be financed with a loan from a private source. As shown on the Harvard University’s information site for private supplemental loans, the Harvard University Employees Credit Union offers loans to international students without requiring a co-signer, and many other lenders offer loans to international students who have an approved US co-signer.（emphasis added）

All HLS loans have a fixed interest rate ranging from 5 -8% depending on the award year and the reason we awarded you these funds.

B. 读书期间产生利息。

While you are in school and during your grace period, the interest which accrues is simple interest (it is not compounded).

C. 10年还清。

There is only one repayment option for Harvard Law School loans: 10 years of a fixed monthly payment amount (minimum monthly amount of $50). （emphasis added）
