Is an individual or group the impetus for innovation. I concede that individual pay an more important role in inventing innovation, than group work, insofar as group is under the control of authority or some resentment rising destroys harmony atmosphere of group working. Other wise the author overlook the crucial way in which group make function.

To begin with, nowadays people have overemphasized the function of individual. Ostensibly, people attribute most of the original ideas stem to individuals working alone, however, it is just the superficial view. Underneath the surface, all the innovative works in the world have been more or less engaged by groups of people no matter what the intricate extend of the innovations are. Some people may still thought that bulb is invented only by Edison, others have nothing with the processing. As a matter of fact, before Edison, some scientist have discovered some useful materials that could be utilized in bulb, though those materials is not so enduring as that of Edison invented. Moreover, some in the Edison’s researching group, one of his seven assistants for example, Francis R, graduated from Princeton university, expert in math. Edison invited him for doing research since Edison actually knew little about math. Whenever Edison have an idea, he written them down, and calculated some result. One of contribute of Francis to bulb was his calculating demonstrated Edison’s hunch about bulb. So did other six assistants. Without their helps, only efforts from Edison is far from enough. Though nowadays, bulb is usually attributed to Edison, actually lots of people in the research group have make great contribution.

Never is this more true than when contribution nowadays are taken into account. Coincident with the concerns about the accelerating loss of know-all, has been a growing appreciation of the importance of term-work. Firstly, term present a wonderful atmosphere of gaining different ideas. No two leaves are all the same, so does the individual. Every people has his or her own attitudes and opinion because of distinct education and living background. Thus different people, if communicating with each other, could learn form others and gain more knowledge than by oneself. After comparing with other opinion, people could notice the drawbacks within one’s own ideas, thus rectify to right path. Secondly, when encounter some problems, help benefiting new ideas from others is in a great demand. Consider, it is all most impossible for people to illuminate all problems, when bring out new ideas, no matter what kinds of ideas and problems. If for oneself, the efforts put into solving problems may be much larger than that from others. Other people in the group could endue kinds of methods solving problems, or endow some subsidy and the like. In other words, it is the group that facilitate the way people provide something new.

Some opponent may point out that, in some group people have to be forced to aboy and compromise  to others. Admittedly, in some group, when the superior governed the group, hardly any one have chance or courage to challenge the idea from top. What they could do is far from brain-storming, but to compromise with silence. This kinds of group is detrimental to providing innovation. Worse more, when some resentment rising from different opinions, the function of group fade into colorless, for Bias and jealousness within the group are really do harm to the whole group. Without modest listening to other opinion, what individual think is how to overcome others and stubbornly hold the opinion no matter some lethal error within. In this sense, it is less likely for a group to serve as a impetus of innovation.

To sum up, Admittedly, it is detrimental to deny the function of individual in inventing innovation, since edifice is made up of myriads of bricks. Without the effort of individual, group can provide nothing. On one could ignore the efforts and contribution of single scientists, employees and other people in certain realms. In the final, either overemphasize group or individual is unfair, both advantages and disadvantages call for a balance in which group help individual open the riches within.
