Prof. Yuanzhang Xiao has fully-funded PhD positions in Department of Electrical Engineering at University of Hawaii, starting from 2019 Spring or 2019 Fall.

Our research is in the broad area of decision making problems, such as reinforcement learning, deep learning, and game theory. The applications range from wireless communications, smart grids, to electronic commerce. Examples of research topics include:
1. Optimality of training in deep learning
2. Deep learning in EE applications (e.g., AoA estimation)
3. Reinforcement learning in optimizing smart grids in Hawaii
just to name a few.

About internship and job opportunities:
We have recently joined NSF Industry-University Cooperative Research Center, led by Missouri University of Science and Technology. The center features close collaboration between universities and industry members, which include Apple, Cisco, Google, IBM, Intel, Hawaii Electric Company, Samsung, etc.. Students will have unique opportunities to work with industry members in the center, which can lead to future internship and job opportunities.
