The speaker claims that the best way for a student to get a truly education  is to take a variety of courses outside his/her major field. In my point of view, I fundamentally agree with the speaker. Broad view is important to any one in different fields. Yet, also it is harmful to extend too far. We need to find a balance between them.

The primary reason why I approve of the proposition is that most work today requires interdiscipline backgroud. From past to present, most of elites who have a eclat know many subjects in different fields. Da Vinci , for example, not only had a eclat in painting, but also excel many other subjects such as mathematics, physics, biology and geology. His famous work "Mona Lisa" may be less successful without the help of geometry. A geologist cannot accomplish his/her research without the knowledge of local culture and society. Even in technical area, such as communication science, scientists may need not only tech-science, but also non-technical fields such as business, culture, and so on. With the development of the society, the relationship between some disciplines becomes closer and closer. The one who is lack of some essential knowledge--mathematics, computer technology and so on--for example, may be impossible to achieve the goal who plans. To become true education, it is necessary for us to take extra courses.

The secondly place of which is that broad view makes us both succeed in our own field and be useful to the world. The more excellent we are, the better the world is. That is what true education is. As the natural science develops, it brings us convenience as well as disaster. It becomes a double-edged sword. .For example, nuclear power is good to human beings, but is a calamity. As a balance, social science is important ,too. It can limit the application of dangerous power.. Thus, it is necessary to learn those discipline as literature, aesthetic, psychology, sociology and anthropology, all of which can edify us, and also inspire us. They boost the natural science, and in contrast, restrict it in the same time. Through the balance in which we can do better in our own field, and for our world. The whole planet we live will get benefits from what is called true education.

Moreover, most career require broad scope of knowledge. For example, a person whose major is MBA and want to succeed in a corporation , must know subjects such as mathematics, economics, even religion and psychology. Although we cannot learn all knowledge like elites of our ancestors, we should learn as more as possible in order to succeed in our career. With the competition in the society more and more ruthless, we should not only excel in our major field, but also know many subjects relevant to our major at least.

Admittedly, the true education apply many benefits. Nevertheless, it is harmful sometimes if we extend too far . It is possible we cannot excel in our own field because of the extra courses. In fact, when we are analyzing a concrete problem, we maybe need the knowledge outside, and only special knowledge we study can solve the problem It is not sensible to extend too far unless you have an unfalling capacity.

In conclusion, most of us can get benefits from true education, if we deal with the problem of extending too far. We also need to find a balance between natural science and social science in order to enhance our competition, and to contribute to the world in which we live. Then this s what true education means.
