------题目------
39.The intellectual benefits of attending a university or college are vastly overrated: most people could learn more by studying and reading on their own for four years than by pursuing a university or college degree.

------正文------
As the society develops, education is making progress everyday and the higher education, which prepares our young students for our careers, is becoming more and more perfect. As a matter of fact, almost every famous university in the world has a long history and has been prosperous all the time. But recently, some scholars advanced an idea that the intellectual benefits of attending a university of college are exaggerated. And further, they claim that most people could learn more by studying and reading on their own for four years than by pursing a university of college degree. From my point of view, the assertions are misleading and suffer some logic flaws. The intellectual benefits of attending a university or college, or the importance for human beings to enjoy higher education, cannot and have never be overrated and people are well improved in college and universities.

No one in the world is a genius and can learn without any instructions, guides or experience of others. It is colleges and universities, despite whose education patterns vary from each other, that lighten people in the way of searching further and wider knowledge. It is also colleges and universities that provide people numerous experienced professors who can always guide us and correct our mistakes. We all know that reading and leaning under the instructions are absolutely more efficient than students' independent learning. By attending a college or university, we can save a lot of time and energy so that we will learn more information than by learning at home.

At the same time, colleges and universities also offer us various advanced equipments, which will help us learn our curriculums directly. Suppose that a student is learning microbiology at home, how can he or she clearly understood the truth if he or she just recite the principles on the book but not do any experiments under the microscope? Similarly, a student who is learning laws at home will not have his or her abilities improved either if he or she does not have a chance speak in the analog lawcourt at school. What people can learn at home are just some principles and theories, which are far from what the career demands.

Moreover, colleges and universities make available the atmosphere and environment which are crucial for us to discuss, compete and cooperate. Only by discussing with others and learning the excellent opinions from others can we recognize our own deficiencies and make self-improvements. During the course of studying with a group, we complement each other and learn a sense of cooperation, which is an essential virtue in our life. What is more, we can better understand the relationship between compete and cooperation and be more confident when facing difficulties.

However, it should be admitted that the curriculums and teaching methods in many colleges and universities are not quite reasonable and should be reformed. An example in case, my major is construction management, belonging to the civil engineering department. But we are learning too many disciplines of finance and economics, which most students consider dispensable. As far as I am concerned, the curriculums should to be designed better to meet the individual needs of students and be more useful for the major.

In conclusion, it clearly follows that most people cannot reach their expectant goals and learn more by reading on their own than by pursuing a university or college degree. It is necessary for people who want to have a further study to attend a university or college. Although there are some drawbacks of the management of curriculums and the selection of teachers, attending universities and colleges is the most practical and effective way to benefit students not only in intellect, but also in emotion, character, and other aspects.

From my point of view, the assertions are misleading and suffer some logic flaws. The intellectual benefits of attending a university or college, or the importance for human beings to enjoy higher education, cannot and have never be overrated and people are well improved in college and universities.开头太长了吧.

No one in the world is a genius太绝对化,而且觉得作为ts不好,因为下文也没再提到,为何不用大学教育能在intellectual benefit people作为tsd can learn without any instructions, guides or experience of others. It is colleges and universities, despite whose education patterns vary from each other, that lighten people in the way of searching further and wider knowledge. It is also colleges and universities that provide people numerous experienced professors who can always guide us and correct our mistakes. Similarly, a student who is learning laws at home will not have his or her abilities improved either if he or she does not have a chance speak in the analog lawcourt at school. What people can learn at home are just some principles and theories, which are far from what the career demands.自学就不能做实验?未必吧,爱迪生不就在家里做实验.不如说在学校可以更方便接触advanced apparatus

Moreover, colleges and universities make available the atmosphere and environment which are crucial for us to discuss, compete and cooperate.Only by discussing with others and learning the excellent opinions from others can we recognize our own deficiencies and make self-improvements. During the course of studying with a group, we complement each other and learn a sense of cooperation, which is an essential virtue in our life. What is more, we can better understand the relationship between compete and cooperation and bebehave more confident when facing difficulties.

However, it should be admitted thatAdmittedly, the curriculums and teaching methods in many colleges and universities are not quite reasonable and should be reformed. An example in case, my major is construction management, belonging to the civil engineering department. But we are learning too many disciplines of finance and economics, which most students consider dispensable.why?感觉说服力不足 As far as I am concerned, the curriculums should to be designed better to meet the individual needs of students and be more useful for the major.觉得应该根据这点准备例子更好

In conclusion, it clearly follows that most people cannot reach their expectant goals and learn more by reading on their own than by pursuing a university or college degree..前文没提到没说明,有点唐突吧

以上纯属个人意见.上不上大学因人而异,有些牛人一辈子没上过学也牛,对正常人还是appropriate place to obtain intellectual benefits.加油,共同进步哈!
