招聘要求：

Highly self-motivated students and researchers who are passionatein theory, algorithm, or implementation of distributed computing/learningsystems. Past experiences on conducting theory and system research, andpublishing academic papers at top venues are highly preferred.

Technical preferences:

·        Strong mathematical foundations      

• Probability and stochastic processes
• Background in information theory, learningtheory, and optimization
• Cryptography
  

·        Strong practical computer science background

• Strong programming skills
• Experience in building distributed systems

导师简介：

Dr. Songze Li is an assistant professor in the IoT Thrust,and an affiliate assistant professor in the CSE department of HKUST. Dr Li’sresearch interests lie on the intersection of theory and system of designing secureand scalale distributed computing solutions, for machine learning andblockchains. Among his major contributions, Dr. Li first introduced leveragingtechniques from information/coding theory to design theoretically optimal distributedcomputing/learning algorithms. Recently, he has been focusing on developing securefederated learning protocols; designing and implementing efficient and scalableblockchain systems.

Before joining HKUST, Dr. Li was a research scientist atStanford University. Prior to that, he spent a year as a research scientistwith Applied Protocol Research working on blockchain technologies. Dr. Li receivedPhD degree from University of Southern California in 2018, and BSc degreefrom New York University in 2011, both in electricalengineering.
