The University of British Columbia offers and administers many programs that provide financial support to graduate students. However, please note that some programs (especially professional Master’s programs) do not offer any financial support.
Many merit-based scholarships, and all Teaching Assistantships and Research Assistantships, are allocated by individual graduate programs. Please check with the graduate program to which you are applying for more information about available funding. In most cases, your admission application will be used to determine funding offers.
In addition, there are a number of scholarship programs which require a separate application. Information about funding opportunities and links to application forms can be found on the Graduate Awards website. Please note that the application deadlines for some funding opportunities (including those from CIHR, NSERC and SSHRC) can be several months earlier than the deadline for submitting your admission application.
Graduate students at UBC's Vancouver campus who have questions about need-based funding should visit the Enrolment Services website.
