Many people believe that a few individuals or small groups (family, friends, teachers, celebrities, for example) have caused them to think and behave in the way they do. Yet it is always society as a whole that defines us and our attitudes, not a few individuals.

Is it always society as a whole that defines us and our attitudes? I do not fully agree. In my opinion, usually a few individuals or small groups influence us and our attitudes, however, in some particular situations the society plays a vital role.

First of all, the family as a small group defines us and our attitudes at the first time. Take our parents as an example. After a baby is born, he receives initial education from his parents. The way his parents speak and behave influences the baby significantly. As in infant, it is too young of a baby to be influenced by the society. Moreover, with the time being, the values of parents may even define the children's attitudes. For example, if a one's father is a doctor, his father is likely to talk about his experience after work, which may stimulate the child to follow his father's career and become a doctor in the future. Also if the parents have a distinct critical thinking and have a passive view on pursuing honors. In this case, their children may also gain the ability to think critically and become indifferent of honors during their lifetime. Nevertheless, the society can not define such attitudes on us. Thus, the family may define us and our attitudes during the time we grow up.

Furthermore, sometimes friends, another small group, also influence us and our attitudes. Everybody may have friends in any period of his lifetime. People are able to become friends, to some extent, due to the fact that they share similar values or interests. For instance, Tommy is one of my best friends. We both like playing basketball and listen to rap music. Therefore, we have much common together. However, he also likes skating, which I am not interested in. Yet, Tommy is willing to teach me how to skate and makes me gradually like it. Simultaneously, I also encourage Tommy to play football, which he was not fond of previously. But it is impossible that the society as a whole makes us to skate or play football. Therefore, friends may influence and define attitudes on each other

Admittedly, the society as a whole can define us and our attitudes in some cases. For example, nowadays there is a trend in society that if a student chooses computer science as a major he will gain a high salary after graduation. Also the job-seeking section of different newspaper emphasizes that those who work in the IT industry earn the highest wages among various professions. All these stimulate the students select to major in computer science before entering university no matter they like it or not. Also some students that fail to major in the computer science department make every effort to transfer to the department after they enter university. Moreover, some students who are unable to study computer science as a major may even give up the enrollment and wait to take the entrance exams again next year. Hence, the society may define people and their attitudes even more fundamentally in some cases.

To sum up, individuals can be defined by not only small groups such as family, friends, teachers, and so forth, but also the society. In some cases, the society as a whole may have more influences on them and define their attitudes.

Thus, the family may define us and our attitudes during the time we grow up.说家庭和父母影响着孩子们的思维和处事，但是只说到了父母怎么做，孩子很可能就成为了什么样的人，或者有什么样的品质，关键到为什么父母可以形成他们的思维和处事方法却没有叙述，父母对孩子的启蒙，潜移默化的影响等还是要具体的说一下，而且你那个doctor的例子没有起到作用，可以用一些名人的例子，比如布什家族，从小受到政治熏陶等，就会在这方面有所建树，从学生时代就会用领导人的眼光看问题了最后成为总统了等。还有个问题就是这段说到了很多点，但是每个点都是很快的带过了，从first,moreover,also,倒不如适当的合并一下，陈述的详细精确一些。个人看法不知道恰当不:)

Therefore, friends may influence and define attitudes on each other.这段写的有些薄弱，对证明你的观点起到的作用不大

To sum up, individuals can be defined by not only small groups such as family, friends, teachers, and so forth, but also the society.这句和你的开头观点又不一致了 In some cases, the society as a whole may have more influences on them and define their attitudes.

看法：这种两边都顾的写法我感觉很难，容易写着写着就有些乱套。再看看别人的文章多点思路吧。语言都挺顺畅的。正如你自己说的，例子不好，这个一时半会想不出来。还是多看人家的吧，呵呵。一起努力！有空去拍拍我的:p
