In the letter, the committee of homeowners from the Deerhaven Acres(DA) suggested that  Deerhaven Acres should adopt a set of restrictions to conform the exterior appearance of homes in DA to enhance the proper value here. To support the suggestion, he argued that after nearby Brookville community adopted a similar set of restrictions, their home value has risen. The advice is unconvincing for several logical fallacies.
  Firstly, the author unfairly assumed that thanks to the restrictions, the home value is higher in Brookville community . However, he provides no convincing evidence to prove that this is the case. It is highly possible that other factors,such as improvement of transportation, contributed to the higher value. Or the home price is generally higher in this area due to more demand than supply, in which case, the restrictions does little good for the result.
  Secondly, even the restrictions are responsible for the higher home price, it is ungrounded for the author to assume that the same restrictions will bring similar result for the DA. There might be a variety of differences between the two communities,which lead to quite contrary results. What if the residents in DA prefer nature and consequently are averse to exterior decoration? Moreover,without information about the age, education background and preference of the residents of the two neighborhood, the author cannot come to the conclusion that the idea of such restrictions will be approved by the residents in DA in the first place.It is highly possible that the residents in DA are mostly young people who are more concerned about the entertainment facilities and excellent education institutions nearby. As a result,they may be differential to such an idea to pay for exterior conformity.
  In a word, the author failed to persuade us that the adoption of the restrictions is a wise suggestion. To convince others, the author has to provide sufficient evidence that the restrictions,and not other factors, lead to the surge in the home price in Brookville community. To better evaluate the argument, the author should make sure the preferences of the residents in the two communities are the same so that the restrictions will be accepted by them.
