The material progress and well-being of once country are necessarily connected to the material progress and well-being of all other countries.

Standing in front you is a robot which is dancing, with a line of words reading "Made in Japan". Curiosity makes you take the shell from it, and then you will find that the silicon chip may come from U.S, the other parts are from Spain, and originally the materials made to them are from South Africa and China. As a matter of fact, this phenomenon is not astonishing at present as the highly mergence of different disciplines and widely cooperation between countries. From this point of view, I partly agree with the speaker.

Actually, the popularization of network and the improvement of transportation efficiency make exchange faster and almost everyone connected to each other. What this change results in is that the difference between geographically different regions smaller and smaller. An apt illustration is that several years ago, we can only have limited kinds of fruits and vegetables in one season, while now we can share almost all kinds existing in the world thanks to modern science and fast material exchange. Under these circumstances, one country has to rely on other countries for the resources used for development. Hence, the world is connected to one network. The material progress and well-being of one country is not good only for itself but for the country relying on it.

Admittedly, we have to face the situation of distinction between countries. No matter how well connected are one to the other countries, there is always the difference, just as no matter how just a society is, there is always the rich and the poor. It is possible that the well-being of one country is not necessarily good to the others, even more badly, sometimes the well-being will do harm to the others. Especially speaking, one developed country depends on a under developed country for a resource such as high purity and high quality steel, whose GDP largely consists of that, and whose main selling direction is this developed country. If the material progress in this developed country is so great that there is no need for importing, that it will do harm to the progress of the under developed country. Therefore, there is some contradiction between different countries.

Another phenomenon I have to mention is that there is some purpose of depressing other country for better development. It's not hard to understand that the resources and environment are limited on the earth; and for varied reasons competition and conflicts come out. A few years ago I had a  piece of news about selling industry waste from a developed country to some relatively under developed countries; apparently the result will be good for the seller because it prevents the waste from polluting the good environment, however, the countries which bought the rubbish will actually pay to do harm to themselves.

In all, I partly agree with the speaker that there is a connection between the material and well-being of countries, no matter beneficial or detrimental. However, there is some point we should not neglect, which will do harm if not controlled. The world is our own, and we should take the earth as a whole; we will nearly all have our generations, what we do now is not only for us, but for the entire human race.
