1. Rituals and ceremonies help define a culture
2. Rituals and ceremonies prevent people having a diminished sense of who they are
3. Being far from rituals and ceremonies may make people feel lost.
4. Other characters of a culture keep from being lost as well

Rituals and ceremonies develop with the progress of human beings; undoubtedly, they represent the culture they belong to. They help define the culture. In addition, they prevent people having a diminished sense of who they are. However, there are also other factors of a culture function similarly.

As rituals and ceremonies are crucial characters of a culture, they can surely define it. Different ceremonies of New Year in different countries act as a proper illustration. If you can find many drunken men in the New Year's Eve, there must be France, because Frenchmen believe that drinking off all the wine stored in one’s house that day will bring good luck to the coming New Year. If you see many people together eating grapes at mid-night, they must be Spanish. And, in China, people celebrate the New Year in Spring Festival. In that day, they eat dumplings, and pay a New Year call to parents, grandparents and other kin eldership. These ceremonies easily show us different cultures.

Rituals and ceremonies can also play the roles that prevent people from having a diminished sense of who they are. In this era that full of ideas of pragmatism, people will occasionally feel isolated and confused about themselves. Who are they? Where are they? What are they pursuing? But, sometimes, just a glance at rituals and ceremonies in a TV program, or an advertisement, we might be aware of ourselves. As part of the culture, rituals and ceremonies have rooted in our blood and deep heart. Only a small indication will wake them up.

While be far away from rituals and ceremonies of one's own culture, it is possible that one will be lost. The feeling that an American cannot enjoy a Christmas day with the entire family is unbearable upset, just like a Chinese cannot stay with his family and together have some moon cakes in Mid-autumn Day. Nobody can have the same depressed mood only if one has had similar experience. The lonely and dejected person may become totally lost.

Many other characters of a culture can help people the feeling of self-lost, such as languages, architecture, foods and dresses. Let us take foods for a further analysis. Many foreign students study in my university. Though they really love Chinese food, they also mention about foods they frequently eat at home, such as steak, chips, fried fish and so on. Therefore, they spend much time seeking those kinds of food in Beijing.  But after they find that kinds of food, they seem not that exciting as I imagining, they just eat them as every common meal.  Only after did I understand, what they want to seek for is not just the food, but the culture the food stands for. They want to take that kind of food because they fear of being lost. The food will help them not feel puzzled about who they are.

In sum, the conclusion that rituals and ceremonies help to define a culture is with no doubt, but we can not reach the conclusion that without rituals and ceremonies, society or groups of people have a diminished sense of who they are. The fact that many other characters of a culture help people from being lost as well limits the conclusion.

Rituals and ceremonies develop with the progress of human beings; undoubtedly, they represent the culture they belong to. 可以用in that连接They help define the culture. In addition, they prevent people having a diminished sense of who they are. However, there are also other factors of a culture function similarly.这句没怎么看懂:P

As rituals and ceremonies are crucial characters of a culture, they can surely define it. Different ceremonies of New Year in different countries act as a proper illustration. If you can find many drunken men in the New Year's Eve, there must be France好像太肯定了吧 不如用may?, because Frenchmen believe that drinking off all the wine stored in one’s house that day will bring good luck to the coming New Year. If you see many people together eating grapes at mid-night, they must be Spanish. And, in China, people celebrate the New Year in Spring Festival. In that day, they eat dumplings, and pay a New Year call to parents, pay a call?好像没见过这个用法哦 grandparents and other kin eldership. These ceremonies easily show us different cultures.

Rituals and ceremonies can also play the roles that prevent people from having a diminished sense of who they are. 不如换一个方式说吧 跟前面的一样啊~In this era that full of ideas of pragmatism, 直接pragmatism就可以了吧 不用idea of了people will occasionally feel isolated and confused about themselves. Who are they? Where are they? What are they pursuing? But, sometimes, just a glance at rituals and ceremonies in a TV program, or an advertisement, we might be(这里应该是might we be倒装吧 因为是a glance作主语哦,或者前面改成having just a glance of) aware of ourselves. As part of the culture, rituals and ceremonies have rooted in our blood and deep heart. Only a small indication will wake them up.

While be far away from rituals and ceremonies of one's own culture, it is possible that one will be lost. (读起来有点别扭,希望是我的错觉)The feeling that an American cannot enjoy a Christmas day with the entire family is unbearable upset, just like (加上a feeling that 因为是感受相象)a Chinese cannot stay with his family and together have some moon cakes in Mid-autumn Day.

Only after (after what)did I understand, what they want to seek for is not just the food, but the culture the food stands for. They want to take that kind of food because they fear of being lost. (这个结论得的比较突然哦)The food will help them not feel puzzled about who they are.

总体感觉论证的不够充分 几个论点有点重合 不太unique
句子可以再加以润色 加油哦~~

谢谢snowyfx

其实那段提到 a glance at rituals and ceremonies in ... As part of the culture, rituals and ceremonies have rooted in our blood and deep heart. Only a small indication will wake them up.

还有,我整篇重复了好多次have a diminished sense of who they are,偶尔用lost 替代一下,还有其他合适的说法么?

最后,笨笨的问一下,怎么变色啊?
