As we know, the skepticism is to question or have the attitude of doubt on the general knowledge accepted by the most people. 【首先解释了一下skepticism，不错】 The first advantage of the skepticism is to attain the truth. There are many famous examples in the history. For Copernicus, if he did not question the geocentric theory postulated by Aristotle and Ptolemy, which was understood commonly by the public and most scientists, people could not gain the actual fact that the earth and other planets revolve around the sun. Meanwhile, if Sidney, the Nobel Biologist Prize winner, did not hold the opposite opinion that RNA also played a vital role in the inheritance, the study and research of modern biology could step into a biased orientation. Students can criticize many social and moral problems, such as parents' educating methods on their children, the increasing divorces and so on. 【引申到生活中了】 In fact, Because of the skepticism, the students no longer just hear about passively the phenomena and facts, but they learn to think about, rationally criticize as well as create their own opinions and idealizations【这个词不是很合适】. Although students' skepticism is encouraged, this questioning behavior must be carried on under some preconditions. In other words, before doubt, students should accumulate the basic knowledge of what they criticize, thus, their questions will be more rational and scientific. Admittedly, the basic knowledge is the fundamental of free minds and thoughts. Thus, as long as students are familiar with what they study, they will possess free opinions and reasonable disagreements on what they are taught. Consequently, the skepticism must not be done by all the students in the different periods of education rather than being useful for those students, who have had the comprehensive basic knowledge and enable to create free and reasonable thoughts. 【最后一句的论述有点混乱】

In conclusion, the skepticism is encouraged for the students who actually understand what they study but not question randomly and baselessly. 【结尾太仓促了】

In the contemporary society, the multitude of scandals about various aspects strongly affects people. Some people insist on that scandals in politics, academia, or other areas are useful, because they focus our attention on problems in ways that no speaker or reformer ever could. In my opinion, I think that people should separate to see this issue according to the different functions of scandals. If scandals can bring positive effects on the public and society, they are useful. However, the left holding the opposite effects is not useful and even deleterious.

First of all, the clear definition of the scandal is necessary for us to start our full discussion. The first definition from dictionary is the loss of or damage to the reputation caused by actual or apparent violation of morality and propriety. The second definition is the malicious or defamatory gossip. According to two definitions, people can see that the first one is useful since like issue said, it reveals some hidden immoral behaviors unknown by the public, and the latter one is poison for people and the society. Next, I will interpret both respectively.

The beneficial scandals can induce people to put their emphasis on seldom understood social and political problems. The famous example is the Watergate scandal. In fact, no public speaker or reformer could have called the nation's attention to the problem of presidential misconduct unless the scandal had surfaced. Meanwhile, scandals about the corruption and bribery in politics, academia, business and other areas are more crucial. For example, in China, there are many scandals on the regional leaders' corruption. Originally, no one can openly complain such immoral behaviors because of these leaders' firm power in the areas. At this time, the scandal plays a vital role to attract the public and the central government attentions, and induce the blazing discussion on this scandal from the public. And then the government will be forced to investigate the events what the scandal said, finally, the immoral behaviors will be punished, meanwhile, affected and damaged persons by those violations can gain the fair, safe and just circumstance. Therefore, publicizing such scandal is useful for the stability of society and people’s happiness.

On the contrary, the scandals which just are the malicious and defamatory gossip can damage the stable society and destroy the innocent persons’ reputation. As we know, most details of baseless scandals are created by makers’ imaginations. Those makers actually meet one scene and one detail, and then only according to this scene and this detail, they begin to guess what will happen next and did happen in the past. Admittedly, many families are destroyed by such scandals making up the story of secret lovers, many talented actors or actresses commit suicide because they can not endure any malicious and defamatory stories about themselves, and even in the political field, many kind and amiable leaders have to leave their jobs since the political evil scandals. Therefore, such deleterious scandals should be avoided, because they can lead us to misunderstand and harm the beneficial and innocent ones but to mistakenly encourage the evil ones.

In addition, because there are two different scandals, which can cause different results, people should carefully identify every scandal and rationally receive these scandals, moreover, media are responsible for select and publicize the just and fair scandals to the public. Thus, people can correctly take advantage of the scandals for well-ordered society, positive moral system as well as brilliant lives.

In conclusion, people should rationally encourage useful scandals. Not every scandal is useful for the society and people. There are still some bad ones to bring the negative effects on the society and people.

Do scandals call our attention on problems that no speaker or reformer could? Generally ,speaking I agree with the speaker insofar as the polotical（political） and academia area ,while I maintain that scandals can abstract people's attention from what they should concern in other cases.

Firstly, especially in political areas ,scandals are a powerful impetus for the society.（这里scandal表示一类，最好前加the）The most notorious scandal in modern times may be the Watergate scandal.The Nixon（人名前应该加the吗？） who won the competion through unfair ways provokes his people, and then be rejected by his people. This incidence make people to ponder some problems of their political system,that is whether the authority has concetrate too much power that they are liable to do something beyond the law and harm the whole society.（that 改为which,非限制定语从句） Also, the Clinton’s sex scandal brought about a problem to populace , a controversy is therefore be widely discussed whether the leader should have high moral standard regardless his high talent of leadership.It seems these scandals instigate people to reflect about something and thus may strive for a better way out.
Secondly, in the realm of the academic , scandals teach people lessons. Perhaps the most common scandal in academic area is the copying. For example , if a famous professor with good reputation is found that he has based on his achievements on something he copied? （这个例子不错：））Many people would feel startle and then wonder the importance of educating person not only in academic but also in morality. Nowadays, we encounter more and more scandals in our daily life, whether in politics, academia, or other areas. Some people argue that scandals can be useful since they focus our attention on problems in ways that no speaker or reformer ever could. In my opinion, scandals are not as terrible as they sound. They can benefit our society if we pay our attention on them and take measure to solve the problems they reveal. However, I believe that scandals are minor cases in our society.
Scandals reveal problems of our society, which we may ignore or never imagine before but which actually exist and do harm to our society. Medias show us all kinds of scandals, corruption of government officials, injustice of laws, addiction to drugs, abuse of gun, sex, violence and so on. We are impressed and scared and angry. Scandals break the glittering appearance of our prosperous world that we dream and speakers and reformers promise. The fact lies there: we have problems yet to solve.
Problems are often regarded as bad things. However, bad things can turn out to be good one, which depends on people's attitudes to bad things. To complain? To be indifferent? To justify? Or to seek a way to eliminate scandals? We have to make an effective and rational decision. When there are scandals in politics, for example, corruption, it is useless to scold the persons who have committed the crime since the harm has already been done. A better choice may be asking what causes of corruption are. Are those corrupt officials "bad persons" inborn? Or are they influenced by the circumstance? Or is there weakness of our political system and law? Taking these into consideration, we can evaluate the problems that scandals reveal and take action to solve the problems. And solving problems is most important and ultimate goals of individuals, governments and the society.
Though scandals can be useful, it is not appropriate to place too much emphasis on them. If every day we are informed that there are scandals everywhere, we will gradually lose hope to our world. But as a whole our world are progressing. Though it has lots of disadvantages and negative part, we cannot deny its advantage and positive part. When a piece of white paper with a black stain is placed in front of us, it is not wise of us to stare the stain but neglect the white paper. If we have no confidence of our ability to improve our world and regard it as an impossible mission, we will not make any progress however simple it is. With the belief that we can do and the will to do, it is not impossible to find an approach to solve problems and achieve goals- to construct a better world.
In summary, scandals can be useful if we take a positive attitude of finding problems and solving problems. Only to face scandals directly, take active response, never lose hope of our world can we expect less and less scandals.
