The pressure to achieve high grades in school seriously limits the quality of learning. An educational environment without grades would promote more genuine intellectual development.

There is a growing public concern over the issue of whether the pressure to pursuit high grades would seriously limit the quality of learning and a pure educational environment should be required.People are sharply divided concerning this issue.In my point of view,I would argue that it should be necessary to acquire high grades in school,but it should not be overemphsisied.In the following analysis,I would like to present some main reasons to support my standpoint.

The first and foremost reason why I have such a view is that the pressure to achieve high grades would certainly make learning more effective.First of all,to some extent, both students and educators can measure the students' abilities to acquire knowledge and to digest knowledge through the results of various examinations.FOR EXAMPLE,a student who fails in a Math middle term exam,might probably pay more attention to the Math studying and make greater efforts to pass the final exam.Therefore,without the pressure to get high marks in school,it would become more difficult to find one's weakness in learning and one,especially who is hard to control oneself,may easily fail in exams.

In addition,the pressure to achieve high grades in school is likely to bring about an environment of competing,which may be benefit for students.An educational environment without grades would not promote more genunine intellectual develpoment,but to dilute the quality of teaching and learning.Students,without pressure to manage a good result,might gradually lose interest and passion to study well. SURPPOSE all kinds of exams and tests were abandoned,all the students ,no matter how well they master the knowledge they acquired in school,would graduate from school successfully ,how would our society be like?Is it more of a blessing or of a curse?

Admittedly,there is no denying that we should not only aim at high grades in school.Otherwise students would ultimately turn to grade-hunters.What is worse,they may lack the ability to experiment and even cheat in exams in order to get so called "high grade" ,which would become insignificant unless one acquires it by one's own genuine efforts.So it is sagacious to make not only students but also educators know that high grades as well as other necessary abilities are equally important during their learning and teaching.A good evidence comes from MIT,which does not provide grades system for freshmen,nevertheless,students will still be measured based on their grades in their following three terms.  

To sum up,while some people might still remain unconvinced by my argument,from what has been discussed above,it is not difficult to draw the conclusion that as a standard to judge a student's learning abilty,grade system,undoubtedly, has more advantages over its defects and the pressure ,yet not the burden,to achieve high grades should be appropriate.
