------题目------
Scandals—whether in politics, academia, or other areas—can be useful. They focus our attention on problems in ways that no speaker or reformer ever could.
------正文------
I agree with the speaker that scandals in all areas can be used to draw our attention that speaker and reformer rarely can.  Public are always more interested in scandals than in normal events.  However, are scandals always useful in a good way, or do they focus our attention on problems that are really valuable?  This, as I will discuss below, varies from case to case.

On the one hand, scandals help reveal problems that we can rarely recognize otherwise and make the public be more aware of them.  They can disclose the truth, usually unknown to public, to help us to perceive the real world more insightfully from another perspective.  In politics, after the Gateway Case and the Clinton scandal, both exposed the presidents' immoral side to the public, we begin to be more aware that although total honesty is impossible for politicians, and even sometimes will be harmful for the country, leaders of a nation still have to conform to some basic moral standards.  The same is true in athletics.  Over years, the Olympic Games have been correlated to drug.  The inharmonic sound of drug kept playing throughout the whole Sydney's Olympic, and drug scandal began even before the Athens’s Olympic itself.  People start to meditate on the meaning of Olympics.  When winning, no matter what means has been taken to attain it, has become the only goal, does the original aims of Olympics, which is to challenge the limit of human beings, to promote friendship between countries, to display the beauty of sports and competition, still exist?  Similar cases prevail in academia, economics, and other areas.  As it stands, Scandals are useful to focus our attention on problems we can never notice by speaker or reformer.

On the other hand, scandals also distract our attentions to some untrue facts and sometimes even confound right and wrong.  Nowadays, entertainment news is flooded with scandals of the stars.  It has even been a rule that before a star releases his new movie or new album, there must be scandals about his privacy to draw people's attention and thus to attract them to watch the movie or purchase the CD.  These scandals are useful only to make profit, but by no means can call public's attention to problems that matter.  The same situation occurs before the election.  Large numbers of scandals, many with fake information, prevent people from making wise decisions, and from telling between the truth and the falseness.  These kinds of scandals, rather than to be useful, have been made use by some people to gain their own benefits.

In sum, scandals do have the power to raise people's attention, usually not possessed by speaker or reformer.  Nevertheless, whether the scandal can be useful or raise valuable questions depends on whether the scandal itself reveals true and insightful facts.

看了下同主题的总结
果然,对于no speaker or reformer ever could的回应很重要
一开始审题不够啊
后来写着写着发现了这个问题,也改不过来了
最后只好在开头捎带一句算是敷衍一下
看了审题还是最重要啊

They can disclose the truth, usually unknown to public, to help us to perceive the real world more insightfully from another perspective[【这句话是不是有些问题,因为不揭示scandals是不会有more insightfully的说法,而且从another perspective,是不是这样?】]. Over years, the Olympic Games have been correlated to[shade by] drug. The inharmonic[【unharmonious】] sound of drug kept playing throughout the whole Sydney's Olympic, and drug scandal began even before the Athens’s Olympic itself.
