9.The following appeared in a memorandum from a dean at Omega University.



"Fifteen years ago, Omega University implemented a new procedure that encouraged students to evaluate the teaching effectiveness of all their professors. Since that time, Omega professors have begun to assign higher grades in their classes, and overall student grade averages at Omega have risen by thirty percent. Potential employers apparently believe the grades at Omega are inflated; this would explain why Omega graduates have not been as successful at getting jobs as have graduates from nearby Alpha University. To enable its graduates to secure better jobs, Omega University should now terminate student evaluation of professors."

In this argument,the arguer conclude that to make every graduates to find better jobs, the Omega University should terminate student evaluation of professors from now on.To sopport the conclusion ,the arguer points out that those potential employers believe that the Omega University's grades are inflated after the student evaluation.In addition,the arguer reason that the Omega student are not as successful at geting jobs as students from Alpha University.This argument suffers from several critical fallacies.

First of all,the argument present a causal oversimplification.In other words,the arguer fail to consider several other reletive factors that may influence the Omega University graduates to get better jobs .For instance,the employer may believe that endurance is more important.what is more,waht the boss considers greatest might be aptiude.Any of these factors,or ther similar factors,may lead to the graduates to get good positions.Without ruling out all other such factors,it is unfair to conclude that inflated grades is responsible for the difficulty in job-huntering.

In addition,the arguemnt is based on an ambiguous analysis that student evaluatin result in the rise of student average grade.the arguer does not provide complete and detailed information of the analysis,upon which his reasonling lies heavily, and of which teh credibility is in remarkable doubt.Even if the analysis is dependable,it is still not strong enough to convince that the average graes inflated,because the evluation of professors is not a decisive indication to determine.For instance,the graduates may become more hard-working,which lead o the rise of their grades.thus ,the arguer present a questionable conclusion based on an ambiguous analysis.

What is more,the aguer commits a fallacy of hasty generalization.The argument tells us little about the actural condition that may result in the graduates to secure better jobs.Even if the termination of student evaluation of professors is the only important question that decide the final determination.The arguer's conclusion is still unconvincing.Only when to terminate student evaluation is regarded as the ideal one and accepted is it likely that graduates can get better jobs .Thus ,it is unwarranted to assume the groundless conclusion.

To sum up,the conclusion lacks credibility because the evidence cited inthe analysis does not lend strong support to what the arguer mainains.To strenghen the argument,the arguer  would have to provide more evidence concerning the need of the manager when he/she employs stuffs.To better evaluate teh argument,we would need more information regarding the difference between Omega and Alpha University graduates .
