36"The greatness of individuals can be decided only by those who live after them, not by their contemporaries."

After realizing that the evaluation of one individual is a complex progress ,which requires deep investigation , critical thinking and usually takes long time to  testify ,   people nowadays become more cautious when making such conclusion . And , in my opinion , though we often try to , we can hardly decided the greatness of individual of our time by the method we used to evaluate our forbear ,and  we are not able to do so, because sometimes we can not preclude the influence on our mind from the society, or because it is  beyond our ability to predict the future ,or simply because of misunderstanding .

Firstly, it is sometimes impossible for us to rightly evaluate a contemporary, because we are living in a society of certain political and historical environment, and are so dominated by propaganda or prevailing opinion . with which some real greatness are not compatible, that we are incapable to exclude such influence to reach an objective estimation.  And to illustrate my view , we have only to have a look at the famous clash between inquisition and Galileo ,and at Copernicus ,who was deterred by religious pressure, and refused the evaluation of his contemporaries by publishing his work one year before his death, and leave this work to later generation. Now with help of modern media, a similar scenario continues. That TV and alike are so powerful that it can easily shape our view has been clearly recognized by all ,including politicians. For example ,to some group's interest ,a party leader is said to be noble and of unparalleled importance to the nation  which is not always the case. The society we are living in embrace us so well that we can hardly jump out and make a independent and objective judgment.

secondly, some most immortal greatness can only be identified after further knowledge is available. It is a common phenomenon in science research, especially in those theory has no direct relationship to practical use .Like an equation has been advanced , and no one appreciate it at the time and seems meaningless, but who can deny the possibility that this equation may lead the world to a brand new perspective in the future , when we ultimately find its significance? What’ more, we always lack convincing evidence to testify the accuracy of one theory, like the disputation of the constitution of light, whether it is wave or particle . And only after Einstein , we can rightly evaluate Newton and Bohr in their contribution to light.  

And as we consider the evaluation of a person in specific field, like artists and writers, especially when they make a breakthrough in form and style, whose fate are largely depended by authorities, things become worse. That is because if you are rejected by experts, you are likely to be misunderstand by the mass. And Van Gogh serves as a good example.

Here I am not trying to deny the possibility that we can also evaluate contemporaries in a just way and reach a right judgment, but whether our judgment is comprehensive is open to be testified by our offspring. In conclusion, the greatness of individual can be most objectively value by later generations , and no matter reputation or vituperation he receives from his contemporaries , it is his own contribution that decides his greatness.

开头所提出的理由与分论点照应得不是太好。
第一个分论点的例子不是太好。第一个例子我觉得应该这样说：当时宗教势力大，人们思想受局限，因此很难正确认识Copernicus的贡献。第二个关于政党的例子也应该强调一下人们受政党领袖的影响。否则的话，似乎与你的分论点不符。
第二个分论点的例子也好像有问题。Bohr好像跟光是波还是粒子这个问题无关。还有应该是Broglie的波粒二像性解决的这个问题吧。另外光学是optics不是light。
最后，三段字数最好平衡一下，因为三个分论点分量差不多。
