38"In the age of television, reading books is not as important as it once was. People can learn as much by watching television as they can by reading books."
Is reading books not as important as it once was and can we learn as much by watching television as by reading books, as the speaker claims? As far as I am concerned, I disagree with the assertion.(可以再加点具体的意见)
Admittedly, we can learn a lot by watching television. Television can bring us kinds of programs, from these programs we are able to get the knowledge of history, culture, art, geography, etc. Take the famous TV program "Discovery" for example, by vivid pictures and deep analysis, this TV program informs people a lot and encourages us to think our past and our future( think about the past as well as the future , 是不是好一些?). I used to think I should care about myself and why bother to care others (不大明白~~), but after watching programs of "Discovery" I come to realize that my behavior will influence others and if somebody do wrong I should stop him to do so. In my college, some students threw their useless batteries freely in the past, my partners and I volunteered to collect those batteries and suggested our college to found a useless batteries collection center and now we do have such a center in my college.
However, what we learn from the TV is superficial under most circumstances and to get full and deep knowledge we still need to read books. I learn this from the construction of the batteries collection center. To inform students in our campus their behavior is detrimental to the environment, my partners and I decided to write a report to our campus newspaper. But we found to finish the report our knowledge from the TV program is not enough, we still have to get more detail information and data from books. To attract audience, most TV programs about the real person and real event have been revised by the directors, so the person and(or) the event we see on the screen is not what he or it should be .If we want to know the fact of a historical person or event (fairly) we have to read the historical books. This is the same thing to get knowledge of culture, art, geography, etc.
Moreover, reading books is more convenient to get knowledge than watching TV .TV set needs electricity to work, but books need not .You cannot carry TV set with you everywhere, but you can put books in your pockets or bag and bring them everywhere. You cannot watch TV program as you like, to watch your interested program you have to schedule your time because if you don not turn on your TV set at the right time you will miss it, and those boring advertisements will waste you a lot of time. However, to read your interested book you can read it anywhere and anytime as you like, this will save you a lot of time compared with watching TV.I still remember there were(was) a TV series last year which is based on a famous novel, to watch it fully on TV, I had to use two months. But I used just two weeks to finish reading the original novel.
In summary, on the one hand, although we can learn a lot by watching television, the knowledge from TV is more superficial than from books. On the other hand, reading books is more convenient than watching TV. Therefore reading books is as important as it once was even if in the age of television.
呵呵,看完了,大小写问题得注意哦。
Discovery 是很好的例子,可以好好再展开些,自己的例子应该再扩充一下,要不说服力好像少一些~~ |
