Recently, many people remonstrate that government officials neglect their will, which brings on a discussion on what the basis government officials should rely on is. In my point of view, I am prone to support the view that government officials should rely on their own judgment.
First of all, government officials may make the best decisions by their own judgment according to(改成带“由于”意思的词更好一点,according to 是“根据”的意思) some important information which is seldom(一些重要信息不能而不是很少被公开,所以改成cannot) opened to the public.[这一句我整个给你改一下,你看看是不是好一点:First of all, government officials may make the best decisions by their own judgment because some important information which are vital to the national security and interest should not be opened to the public.] On account of lack of important information, the public usually knows little about the real intention of government so as to oppose the canny decision the government draws. Taking Alaska as (an)example to illustrate the point, there ever was a demonstration in large scale against the plan that American government tried to purchase Alaska from Russia and the American people viewed the plan as waste of taxpayers' money, because Alaska, covered with ice, is a severe chill place where not fit for living. Finally, American government bought it with only a little money, and now, materials buried under Alaska act an important role to(in,搭配典型错误,要注意) the American economy. In fact, before bought it, American government officials have attained plentiful messages enough to test its value through investigation, meanwhile, maybe the public could hardly get the information. Without sufficient and precise information, it is hard for the public to find the best choice. Meanwhile, due to the advantage of information, government officials should make the decision based on own judgment rather than the will of the people.[加粗的我整个给一下,你看看是不是和你的TS结合的更好一点。In fact, before bought it, American government had carried out comprehensive investigations and attained enough information to support its decision, but if the government revealed this information to the public to mitigate their emotion, the Russia may know it and they would not sell Alaska to the U.S.A. If this did happen, the benefits of the America would suffer great loss. From this example, we can see that for the national benefits government officials should make the decision based on their own judgment rather than the will of the people because sometimes people are short of information and the choice they made are not the best one]
Furthermore, only when a policy can be carried out constantly for a spell with ruling out some doubts, its benefits might be achieved. It is hard to unify the will of the people, because different people have diverse ideas, which results from the people considering what government official should do usually stands on individual viewpoint instead of comprehensive perspective. For caring for own interest, some people would doubt and refute others' will and then be overturned by another, consequently, any will of people will swing all time. If government official take them into effect without question, the policy should be adjusted always so as to adapt to new will, so no polices might achieve their anticipated effect. "The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today," released by Franklin Roosevelt, the thirty-second American president. Government can deals with nothing about national affairs, if officials always adore the will of the people more than something based on their own judgment because of afraid of doubts coming from the people.
However, government officials voted by the people should represent interests of the people, so it is impossible(不是不可能是不应该/错误,改成wrong) that the deeds of government ignore and conflict to the people's will completely. Until (Before)drawing a policy or decision, government officials should investigate the will of the people as much as possible, which assures that the policy, according to officials' own judgment, caters for the will of the majority.
To sum up, (the relationship between )the people and their government like the relationship(one) between groundwork and edifice. If only doesn't destroy the groundwork, the government officials should rely on their own judgment in that standing on the edifice, they can get more view. |
