But here there is another problem related with it, that is whether knowing about the past can help people to make important decision today or not. As far as I am concerned, learning history can help us make decision to a certain extent, but it can not be used as a decisive factor.

Firstly, history can bring lots of thing for us to learn. Although most of the fruits in the past are out-of-date and even are proved to be wrong, our ancestor's merits in the way to produces these fruit will be never lose their value and they should be models for the offspring to learn. Edison teaches us that we should not be afraid of failure and adhere our goals forever, From Newton, we know that even minor matters can bring us the inspiration to great breakthrough and we should not omit the minor matters around us, Galileo tells us the importance of skepticism and experiment, etc. Furthermore, many successful experiences are proved right and can be still useful now. The ancient Chinese militarist Sun wu's famous book-The  Art of War by Sunzi contains many useful military thoughts, which are still invaluable now. After the First Word War, the emperor of German saw this book, he said that if he had seen the book earlier, he would not lose the war.

Besides, the failure in the past can make us realistic and rational in the analysis of the cause and take shun of the familiar mistakes. The failure of French emperor Napoleon makes us know the detriment of pretension, socialist Owen lets us realize that only imagination without the basic fundament and practice is no use at all, learning and remembering the history of the Second World War can help the young in the countries that started the war bear in mind the great disaster brought to whole world by the war and never commit the same mistakes that their ancestors have committed again, and so forth.
