Some people hold the statement that history teaches us only one thing that knowing about the past cannot help people make important decisions today, as the same point as the speaker. In my opinions, the statement is too extreme and the speaker understands superficially what history is.

I strongly agree the opposite standpoint that studying the history is conduce for people to make a comprehensive decision. Through history, we can clearly know what happen in the past, know the human's process of marching to the richness and civilization, and know the success and failure of our antecedents. From these, history tells us the wisdom, intelligence, and the strategies, which are all helpful for people make significant decision. The famous scientist Newton said that "My success base on the past contributions; I only stands on some giant’s shoulder". Without the presence of the past research about the physics, Newton could not make his profound and creative works. If a scholar is intent to begin a research, he consequentially reviews the documents to find out the foregone achievement about his fields. He must know what have been made clearly in the past research, and the failure or the problem of his subjects. Only through these steps, he can set his explicit subjects, and understand fully what he should do, what problem he should solve in the next steps. In addition to, the scholar can obviously gain the experience from the past research, he can avoid the ever errors, imitate the ever successful methods. The history of such researches indeed service as an assistant for the scholar's decision.

However, I admit, not all the times, people can obtain the inspiration from history. As we all know, the world develops in a fleeting speed especially in nowadays information era, the new discoveries and new invents springs out on every day. Something happen currently, never occurs in the past thousands of years of human history. For example, what attitude we should toward some controversial issue, such as the nuclear technologies, the pollution against the development of industry, the clone of human-self. All of these problems we can not find the proper answer from history; no experience can point out the result. It is the time that we should make use of our intelligence rather than resorting to history cases. Therefore, histories can not help us to determine what we should do and how to do, all long.

Furthermore, history did not ensure our decisions always correct. The same strategies, brought success in the past, do not render the achievement in next time, even when people confront the similar situation. Because the reality is complex and blurry, which breed the wilderment for people. Sometimes misunderstanding the accurate situation and taking some inappropriate measures lead to the failure. It is not history can not help us, but people do not control the rules or principles of history. Obtaining experiences and tactics through history require that human should take the initiative from the past things, to distinguish the treasure and trash in the history.

In conclusion, the speaker's overlooks the huge benefit of history, I conceive  that history is a mime for us, people who want to gain the gold, must use his intelligence and courage to study what history tell us, what the achievements in the past comprise,  further, he should obtain the ability to apply them appropriately in the nowadays society.
