Governments must ensure that their major cities receive the financial support they need in order to thrive, because it is primarily in cities that a nation's cultural traditions are preserved and generated.

People always have a viewpoint that governments must ensure the financial support to their major cities because that a nation's cultural traditions are primarily preserved and generated there. As far as I am concerned, I agree with that government should pay financial support to major cites, meanwhile, we cannot neglect the development of countryside or small towns. A country's development should tend to a balance.

To begin with, the development of major cities is a standards of boom of the country. A nation's cultural traditions are preserved and generated there, so we should pay attention to ensure the thriving of them. History brings us so many priceless wealth and place of interest. Some of them are generated from the major cities, preserving them can make us best remind and use the history. Beijing, the capital of China, has a long history in human society. It is the capital of several dynasties(朝代) in China. If you were to travel there, you would see a great number of places of interest such as the Imperial Palace, the summer palace, the great wall etc. All of them are priceless wealth and legacies that our ancestors left us. They represent a nation's cultures and traditions. So government should give financial support to keep all of them. To Beijing itself, its prosperity or not directly represents the whole situation of China, for it is the centre of culture and economy in China. Therefore, ensuring major cities to thrive is significative and momentous to a country.

Meanwhile, we have to notice that not all major cities preserve and generate the nation's cultures and traditions, however, the development of them is also significant. Qingdao, a beautiful and young sea-city of China, cannot be considered as a city to generate the  it is also the city to hold Olympic Games of 2008. By of year of 2008, it would show the image of China in the world.  

However, that does not mean we should neglect the support to countryside. Not only because of them also occupy a nation's cultural traditions but also they are indispensable parts of a country. The situation of them directly influence the development of whole country. If you like to appreciate the situation of a country, you should do detailed research to the whole instead of several major cities. GDP(gross national product) are created by all the country whatever a metropolitan or a county they are. Nowadays, there are good situation of economy in several metropolitans such as Guangzhou, Shanghai and Hongkong, but there are also poor places existing everywhere. It is because of the importance of countryside that the government gives momentous financial support to the northwest part of China where residents live in a hard life.



To sum up, governments should not only warrant that major cities thrive in a good tendency but also give certain financial support to countryside. Both of their developments represent the whole country. A balance should be called to both of them.
