Nobody can deny that scandals no matter in politic, academia, or in other areas do converge public attention at one point. However, can only scandals lead such effect? My answer is opposite. Some other methods can also focus people's attention on one problem.

To begin with, scandal is a terrible thing to most people, especially those celebrities. In politics scandal is an effective way to attack the concerns. The former president of USA, Clinton, suffered in a sexual scandal. At that time, people all over the world focus their attention on that scandal. And he was almost been sent away by the congress. In academia, similarly, scandal as a disease invades the scholars and academia. If one famous professor has been found any mean action in his job, such conduct could be proclaimed to public as a scandal. Then the professor's reputation collapse soon. Scandals' strength in focusing people's attention is prevail in many areas not only in politics and academia. In a word, more famous and exaggerated the problem is more attention focus on it.

On the contrary, not only scandals can congregate people's attention, other things can also achieve the effect such as political election, celebrities’ private life and so on. It is common to see when one country undertakes an election about their leader people will pay more attention to such election. In respect that the leader delegates the nation’s political position and steel the nation’s destiny, as a voter, people have to know the candidates' assertion, background, character and so on to decide who to elect. Therefore, the election can effectively focus people's attention. In addition, celebrity's private life likewise is a hotspot. Many common people used to focus those famous movie star, super sports players etc. According to such phenomena, many huge companies would like to invite those stars to depute their product and advertise for them, and pay them a high reward. Those companies make great use of such attention brought by celebrities. It is an effective way to publicize their new products. Thus, scandal is not the only way to focus public attention.

Furthermore, there have been other ways that can focus people's attention. Political method through media can effectively focus people's attention. For example, if the country is being attacked or some disease will be prevalent in the country, then the nation intends to highlight the event, the government has to force the medium to report. They could order that all the newspaper, TV, radio program to report the event. Meanwhile, the president of the nation gives a speech in live TV to the public. Then national people will focus on the events. So besides scandal, other methods can also focus people’s attention to the problem.

In conclusion, to draw the attention of public, scandal might be an extremely useful method. Although scandal is astounding and absorbing, nobody would like such things to happen. Public may lose confident to their idols and governments. In a final analysis, besides scandal, many approaches can lead a convergence of public attention, but may engender distinct impacts.
