When we talk about the university or college, many people show suspect to the education of university. Why, you wonder, could most people learn more by studying and reading on their own for four years than by pursuing a university or college degree? As far as I am concerned, fetching a college degree is of great importance, however college not only give us a degree but also teach me other skills such as the ways of consideration, the ability of learning on their own and how to be a successful man.

To begin with, pursuing a university or college degree is of great significance to do favor to find a good job. University is a nice place which supplies with us good learning condition and environment. We can also learn some job-related skills and pursue a university or college degree by learning all the required courses. This college degree is beneficial to our future job. That may be the reason why so many students learn hard and compete with each other to enter the college, especially the most famous university. We have to concede that one of their direct purposes is to fetch a college degree and find a good job. For instance, if you take a Beijing University degree in the market, you will deserve great welcome and offer.

However, only pursuing a college degree is not sufficient for us to live in contemporary times. We should also learn ways of consideration, ability of reading on our own and how to behave in society. Firstly, After all, we only learn limited knowledge during this four years and part of them may not be used when we connect with society. Thus, ability of reading on our own is useful for us to meet with new things, which can drive us quickly master the entity of new things. Secondly, how to behave is also critical important factor. Without morality and good personality it is impossible for us to attain success even if we have a college degree. In China, owning good communication with others plays a key role on attaining our success.

Last but not the least, it is entirely unfair to blame the intellectual benefits of attending a university. Whether people could learn more by studying and reading on their own during this four years due to his/her hard working and own action. A great number of college students attained success in society, meanwhile, countless ones also failed in their jobs, however, we should attribute both of them to college. Similarly, what a student can learn is due to his own endeavor instead of college. Therefore, Individual factor is the most important one.  

To sum up, we should not cast doubt on the function of a university or college. Pursuing a college degree has some merits such as helping us to find job, however, it is not sufficient for us to be applicable the contemporary society. Only by mastering the ability of reading on our own, communication, methods of thinking can we make further success.
