The following memo appeared in the newsletter of the West Meria Public Health Council.
'An innovative treatment has come to our attention that promises to significantly reduce absenteeism in our schools and workplaces. A study reports that in nearby East Meria, where fish consumption is very high, people visit the doctor only once or twice per year for the treatment of colds. Clearly, eating a substantial amount of fish can prevent colds. Since colds are the reason most frequently given for absences from school and work, we recommend the daily use of Ichthaid, a nutritional supplement derived from fish oil, as a good way to prevent colds and lower absenteeism.

In this argument, the arguer recommends that people in West Meria should use Ichthaid everyday to prevent colds and lower absenteeism. At first glance, this argument is very specific and convincing. A careful examination of it, however, would reveal how groundless it is.

First of all, this argument is based on the groundless assumption that people in nearby East Meria has little cold than people in West Meria, but the mere fact that people in  East Meria visit the doctor only once or twice per year is insufficient to conclude that. As we know, cold is just indisposition and we usually do not go to hospital to treat it in most condition. In this sense, the evidence provided by the arguer has no use to conclude that people in East Meria has little colds

Besides, even if people in East Meria have little colds, it is too early to say that their little chance to get cold is caused by their habit of consumption of fish. The arguer provides no evidence to prove that the habit of eating fish is the sole difference between people in the two areas. Thus it is quite possible that other reasons result in the East Meria people's little chance to catch a cold. Most people in East Meria might have the habit of doing sports and this good habit makes them much stronger to reduce the rate of catching a cold. It is equally possible that most people in East Meria works indoors while West Meria residents always work outdoor, if so, it is natural that people in East Meria got little chance in catching a cold.

Finally, granted that the fish can help prevent cold, it is still unadvisable to recommends people in West Meria the daily use of Ichthaid. Although Ichthaid is a nutritional supplement derived from fish oil, no evidence shows that it has the same composition as fish. The component which prevents cold may not exist in fish oil. Even so, the process of deriving may destroy the certain component. Furthermore, even if Ichthaid has the same function to prevent cold as fish, no evidence proves that cold is the real reason of the absenteesim, cold may be just an excuse, if so, the decrease of cold can not reduce the absenteeism at all.

To sum up, this argument is not well reasoning and lack of credibility. To make the argument more convincing, the arguer should provide more evidence to prove that fish can prevent cold and Ichthaid has the same effect as fish.

As we know, cold is just indisposition【这个词不是很常见，不过的确可以；我会用slight illness】 and we usually do not go to hospital to treat it in most condition.【More often than not, we are reluctant to go to hospital to treat disposition,such as cold.楼主，这里的in most condition 和usually重复了。】 In this sense, the evidence provided by the arguer has no use to conclude that people in East Meria has little colds【in this sense, there fail to establish the casual relationship  between cold and visit doctor.这里还可以这样：本身该地方的人身体就好，所以看医生就少；或者因为不远方便】

Although Ichthaid is a nutritional supplement derived from fish oil, no evidence shows that it has the same composition as fish.【 the arguer falsely equates the Ich, which is deprived from fish oil and just acts as one of the nutrition, with fish.  】 The component which prevents cold may not exist in fish oil. Even so, the process of deriving may destroy the certain component. Furthermore, even if Ichthaid has the same function to prevent cold as fish, no evidence proves that cold is the real reason of forthe absenteesim, cold may be just an excuse, if so, the decrease of cold can not reduce the absenteeism at all.

开始的时候要是复述原文的证据的话，有点浪费时间，而且论据在后面的批驳中都有提及，说了有点重复，很多范文第一段只有一句话的。当然，我是时间不够才万不得以这么做的，要是时间允许，还是写写好的。
