While our world is whirled at a high speed beyond our imagination, some elements that have even been important for us is passed away from us. We have to accept that  what mean the features of a nation is lose on our way to creating future, for instance, reverence of the history of a nation. Clearly, in that condition, we should find it and try to maintain it. However, it is unreasonable to consider simply patriotic reverence of the history of a nation as hamper to progress, rather than encourage it.

Admittedly, in some ways, patriotic reverence of the history of a nation indeed impedes progress, especially at the time that patriotic reverence overwhelms. Undoubtedly, today it is impossible for a nation not to absorb from others. Communication, a mainstream of today world, is expanded to increasing fields, from science to arts, which achieve mutually enriching different scopes. To contrary,  patriotic reverence can lead a nation to destroy a link to the world, which is a dangerous action, even though it result from an aim at protest the history of a nation. China has been hurt by that patriotic reverence of history. In the past thousands of years, china was a vital country all the time: the Silk Road, great wall, glorious literature, and etc, but prosperity was ended 200 years ago. In the 16th, based on pride of a superpower, China failed to decide to gave up exploring to ocean and forbidding residents to migrate to abroad, which is the beginning of poor, even though china has contributed a lot. While western got down to the revolution industry, china maintained the mode of life as before without any ideas of changes of outside world,  until the time that china has far fell behind western. In this case, it is clear that patriotic reverence can limit the development of a nation.

But, I tend to believe that patriotic reverence of the history of a nation dose more to encourage progress. Patriotic reverence can promote the affection of a nation. By learning the history of a nation, one can be evoked to understand a nation more deeply, which is the compromise that one is willing to devote oneself to a nation, the much as one can see the truth by reminding of the past. In the different countries of the world, almost every child’s curriculum includes a subject, history, which no doubt proves the importance of the history. As we know, history establishes a link  between a nation and people, because the same feeling is foundation of  a nation. Thus, patriotic reverence can encourage progress of a nation.

Furthermore, patriotic reverence of the history of a nation can help to determine the direction of a nation. Not every policy, for example, that is effective in one country can work well in anther one, which unavoidably need some improvement to be done before it is implemented. Those who comprehend patriotic reverence can play a key role in this process, determining what to be maintained or what to be changed. Paris is a good example. When skyscraper became flouring, owing to respect to the history, the designer of Paris didn’t simple mimic, instead of endeavoring to find a blance on the past and today. Until today, while skyscraper grows rapidly, when one walks in streets of Paris, old buildings still stand here as before. To large extent, Paris is the masterpiece of patriotic reverence of history, mostly because citizen in Paris is respect to the history. Therefore, by patriotic reverence, a progress can be aroused.

In sum, as long as we can handle in point the relavent between development and patriotic reverence, we have a good reason to except a brighter future. Simple patriotic reverence is meanless. However, combining it with development can lead to a progress.
