A fully funded PhD position (starting in the Fall semester of 2024) is available in the Department of Nuclear, Plasma & Radiological Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, USA (https://npre.illinois.edu/). The successful candidate will work in the Lab of Modeling of Nuclear Materials driven by Dr. Jianqi Xi to study the radiation and corrosion degradation of nuclear materials through multiscale modeling approaches. https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=2Lob2F8AAAAJ&hl=en.

Requirements:
* B.S./M.S. degree in Physics, Materials Science, or Nuclear Engineering
* Excellent proficiency in spoken and written English
* The selected candidate should be motivated, open-minded, highly dynamic, and capable of working in a team.

Other desirable skills:
* Experience in molecular dynamics and ab initio codes
* Experience in DFT and MD calculations, or/and Machine learning
* Programming skills (Python and C++）
* Preferred in multi-scale modeling (optional)
