There is a controversial argument debateon who will be more likely to make important discoveries in a field, the beginners or the experts. Although the experts have more knowledge and experience than the beginners, I should assert that the beginners can gain achievements more easily likely和easily 是两个概念吧 , for the less restriction in their minds and their more vigor.
When a neophyte enter s a field to initiate her/his study, s/he may find her/himself lack of experience, which makes them to doubt themselves; however, in my point of view, it is because of their less experience that declines the limitations in their minds, which leads to their more easily obtained obtaining discovery. There are many examples in the history, which all made important discoveries when they were green hands with less knowledge and experience. Watson and Crick, well-known today for their discovery of the structure of DNA double helix, made this world-shaking discovery when they were young, especially Watson, who was then a beginner in the biology field. It was their fewer restrictions in their minds that made them to observe the x-ray diffraction of DNA in a different angle from others, who had been saturated in the field for many years, and ultimately achieved the attainment. Watson and Crick, well-known biologists for the world-shaking discovery of the structure of DNA, achieved such accomplishment when they were young, especially Watson even as a beginner in the biology field. Without the restriction of established thoughts, they observed the x-ray diffraction of DNA in a different angle from other experts, ultimately achieved the attainment. Also, Einstein is another example. When he publicized his essay of Special relativity, he was a young man as a clerk. However, less influenced by the classical mechanics found by Newton, he succeeded in finding the flaws in it and discovered his theory. Thus, the less experience resulting in fewer limitations is the guarantee in the discoveries. What is more, the new enters are more vigor and passionate, eager to prove themselves and gain fame and recognition from others, which is another important factors causing their discoveries. As we all know, a person who has just enter a lab has the most vigor and energy. They work hard to make themselves to obtain success, and to make themselves be celebrated. Thus, it is undoubted for them to make more important discoveries.
On the contrary, as the experts, they may not only lack the vigor as the neophytes, but judge things in their formed or old-fashioned principles, which may impede their new ideas to come out, even sometimes may lead to calamity. The strong instance lies in the event of the prevalence of SARS in China. When it was first found, the old and experienced expert 是一个人就写出人名,否则就写一批人 in the Chinese scientific institution made a conclusion based on his experience that it was another kind of virus of flu. However, the fact revealed his false, and the result was serious--many patients was delayed to be cured, and due to the less alert of the disease, the illness spread ed to a larger scale, and resulted in a disaster.
Admittedly, there are many fields that require the experience, without which people cannot make the correct decision or discovery. Take the field of economics for instance. The predictions of the future condition of economy are based on the experience of the experts who have study been studying in the field for many years. Those discoveries cannot be created unless they have the ability to foresee the possibility of the trace of the development, which calls for more experience. Other fields such as in the historic study also need experience to make discoveries. When a remains is found, to make important discoveries requires the experience gained of by the historians' work before--what is the function of the tools? When did this civilization start? These problems cannot be correctly answered by the green hands with insufficient experience and knowledge in the field.
In the final analysis, in virtue of their fewer restrictions in minds and more passion in doing work, it is more likely for the beginners to make important discoveries. With little experience to learn from, they have to research all by themselves, avoiding the mistakes that may be made by the experts. However, in some certain fields, such as the study of economy and history, more experience is needed to make discoveries.
