183"As we acquire more knowledge, things do not become more comprehensible, but more complex and more mysterious."

In contemporary society,  rapid scientific and technological advancement accelerates the advent of knowledge-bombing era. However, facing the large amount of all kinds of knowledge, more and more people are apparently inclined to lost themselves at sea. Actually, along with the accumulation of more knowledge, the whole human being indeed become  more sensitive about the mystery of the nature.

Admittedly, personally speaking, it is more complex for a person to touch the essence of  a thing due to the vast amount of relevant knowledge . Lacking adequate understanding and analytical ability, a person may feel frustrated and limited when thinking about the natural mysteries. For example, in ancient ages, lack of any knowledge, people may  feel easy to simply explain the natural phenomenon, such as light, wind and the like, with religious points. And when it comes to modern times with scientific progress, there are more and more physical, biological as well as chemical theories respectively account for the natural phenomenon. Consequently, since it is difficult for anyone to master all the subjects well, people may feel somehow more mysterious just because they could not understand the scientific knowledge all by their own. In this sense, simplicity leads to belief, while complexity to skepticism.

However, from the overall level of whole human being, the natural mysteries become somehow more explainable with the amassment  of our knowledge. With the genetic knowledge, we clarify the mechanism of reproduction and heritage; with the help of astronomy , we switch from the false geocentric theory to the accurate heliocentric theory which can better explain the phenomenon like sunrise, sunset and the forming of four seasons; with the chemical knowledge, we learn that the whole material world is made up of more than a hundred of basic elements. In one word, as we acquire more knowledge, we see the world more objectively and profoundly. What's more, the scientific outlook stimulates us to explore more and conceive tools and methods to optimize our lives.

One may argue that the existing knowledge will also further show us the more complex natural world than we primitively believe. Just as a famous scientist said (and I paraphrase ),"when I explore more, the more unknown things I confront. " It seems plausible at first glance, that things do become more complex and more mysterious when we master more knowledge. Nevertheless, this saying ignores that the complex and mysterious things have already existed before the scientific advancement. Therefore, it is not the mastered knowledge cause the complexity, but just uncover the mysteries. Moreover, only when we realize the big mystery of natural world, can we shed light on this mystery eventually with our efforts.

To sum up, although more complex  as the existing knowledge seems, it indeed illustrates the mysterious world partly. With better understanding of the world, people become more composed and confident. And to explore the world ceaselessly on the base of former knowledge, it is possible for our human being to reach the essence of the nature.
