The speaker’s perspective above suggests that the modern constructions always take the priority to the old building protection, which is too extreme to be accepted generally in my viewpoint. As I am concerned with the contradiction the author’s statements brought to us, I suggest we have the city newly planed and constructed follow the modern planners’ suggestion, and meanwhile, let some old essentials stay and reinforced for memorial.

Let us take an introspection into the attribute of old house in modern city, the fringes on their walls were curved by our ancestors and time. Their standing there represents the history of our society. The Imperial Palace in Beijing, China could be the appropriate example for this sense of historical honor. People of China and some other countries swarm into Beijing to visit this place of interest everyday. The building itself, of great age, established a symbol in the visitors’ hearts, play a role much greater than a thousand times of sermons, so old buildings like this are the representatives of historical essentials, which should be protected and play a brand-new role in the modern society. Meanwhile, these historical architectures are irrecoverable if once destroyed, our responsibility in front of them is protect them as we can, not only for our ancestors and the modern life, also for our future generations.

Besides these essentials, in the modern city there reserved a large quantities of old remains, which resulted from the inevitable outcomes of time. Just consider a metropolis full of deserted ugly ducklings, not only the beauty of city as a whole is destroyed, the environmental quality would thus be reduced, grounds covered with dusts, danger of crash linger around every corner of the city… what an desolate sight it would be. Hereby, to consider about the sight and function of modern city as a whole, I suggest that old buildings with less historical meanings should be replaces by new ones that contribute more to its dwellers.

Modern city is not only the matrix for us to live, it provide us with mental assurance, including beauty of the sight and satisfaction of the dwellers’ longing for their past called “history”, along with the physical security, which means constancy and efficiency of the buildings. Thus, modern designers should replace the old rusted city buildings with new appreciated ones, considering enough for the old essentials’ protecting.

不过这几天没太动笔，想了很多Issue从内容上丰富文章的观点，比以前深刻些了。。打字也计算过，纯粹速度的话256/10min，应该不成问题了。。
