With the rapid development of modern society, there are many new discoveries everyday. Sometimes we are thinking about the problem that who is more likely to make important discoveries, the beginner or the expert? In my opinion, the beginner is more likely to make important discoveries as compared with the expert, although the expert has some advantages.
To begin with, when doing research or other activities in a new field, the beginner is always curious about the new area, which is very crucial for an important discovery. With such kind of curiosity, the beginner may pay more energy in making discoveries. There are some examples in history can be used in interpreting this. In last year's International Conference of Mathematics, some young scientists were given the opportunity to present a forty five minutes’ speech. When jounalists ask them what was the most important factor contributing to their success, they mostly replied with the curiosity. [总结一下,或者加点什么,感觉好象没有写完啊]
Moreover, compared[comparing?] with the expert, the beginner is more open while doing research. The beginner has no prior experience in this field, he /she haven't hesitate to try what he/she want to do, no matter it will success at last. [In these mature research fields, curiosity may help the beginner to find some way toward important discoveries.上一段的别用来酬字数] In history, many great discoveries are based on such open mind, not subject to the experience of ancestors. Take the prominent astronomy scientist Copernicus for example. When he began to do research on astronomy, he kept an open mind, and didn't affect by the geocentric theory of Aristotle, after long periods of observation and experimentation. He published his new theory- the heliocentric theory. In contrast, the expert seems much more conservative. With many knowledge and research experience, the expert may think for a very long time before deciding to do research in a new research field. As the negative impact of experience, the expert lost the chance to make great discoveries.
However, compared with the beginner, the expert also has some advantages, [of which解释一下语法吧] the most important issue is the experience. [It is well known that there are some principles and rules in every research area.和下一句不连贯啊] With knowledge of such principles, the expert can avoid some things seem extra or are destined to fail.][beginner难道就没有学过这些k&p吗?应该是运用上expert比较熟练吧] [/colorIn such a way, the expert may save much time. Contrary, the beginner is more likely to suffer some fetal fallacies because of lacking of experience.
To sum up, both the expert and the beginner have some advantages respectively while doing research in a field. In order to make best use of the advantages of the two sides, the expert should be more open, and the beginner also should obey some basic principles. In such a way, they can work out more and more important discoveries.
