Students should bring a certain skepticism to whatever they study. They should question what they are taught instead of accepting it passively.

    The speaker consists that students should question whatever they study before they accept the knowledge. I agree with the speaker to the extent that students should possess a spirit of suspicion which is beneficial to our learning academic studies and living a reasonable life. However, skepticism should rely on basic knowledge and rational consideration, or it will become useless and even harmful to our learning.

     To begin with, I'd like to concede advantages of skepticism which should be encouraged in our daily life. When you are doubtful of what you are learning, it means that you are thinking and analyzing the process of which is the first step to grasp knowledge. For example, when deal with a mathematic theory and have an answer than has been given, we can think about the process of induction and do it again by ourselves. In this process, we understand the essense of this theory and memorize it well, and enhance our capability of logic thinking. Skepticism means someone is caucious about knowledge while cauciousness is the key to open another innovative world. Thus, I concede that skepticism to some extent has its precious function.

    However, if based on the emotion of proudness and neglect of truth, skepticism brings harmful results to our study and society. Taking Corpernicus for example.He is a great scientist , overturned the theory of ptolemaic system astronomy and provided the truth that earth and other planets revolve around sun. Many people in his days considered his theory unbelievable and even threatened his life ,and asked him to give up that theory that were opposite to popular ideas at that time. From above analysis on the example , we can believe that rootless skepticism to scientific theory goes to the wrong direction of truth and scientific knowledge. Also for students,  if one is doubeful about everything he learn ,he may involve himself in a situation of extreme skepticism and may loose the chance to study and grasp knowledge. It means that he will lose many chance to accept the valuable information which benefits his growing-up.So, I consider absolute skepticism is useless .

    The controversy on whether we should possess the attitude of skepticism, in essence, is the critical issue that we should consider seriously through our life. The issue is by which way we can have the habit of critical thinking and what is true critical thinking. The purpose of skepticism should be beneficial for our own intellengent and moral study, and enhance our capability of critical thinking. It means that critical thinking and skepticism interalate with each other , both of which have significant impacts between other. To disbelieve with no critical thinking  indicates unbelieving and critical thinking with no skepticism is impossible to have a rational process of thinking. So valuable skepticism means that clear analysis of two issues and consider to fesibility of the argument ,and use logic words to express one's own opinion. For instance, when learn two kinds of history schools, we should read articles of their representive schoolars , search other historians' appraise and put  their theories into different historical events. Thereby we can discover in which historical condition their theory are valuable and in which conditions their theory are limited to illustrate the history phenomenon.
   
     In sum, rational skepticism has its adavantages and should be connected with critical thinking. Or absolute doubt will impede one's process of study and harm the truth of language.
