Argument4 第一篇,严重超时

The following was posted on an Internet real estate discussion site.
'Of the two leading real estate firms in our town—Adams Realty and Fitch Realty—Adams is clearly superior. Adams has 40 real estate agents. In contrast, Fitch has 25, many of whom work only part-time. Moreover, Adams' revenue last year was twice as high as that of Fitch, and included home sales that averaged $168,000, compared to Fitch's $144,000. Homes listed with Adams sell faster as well: ten years ago, I listed my home with Fitch and it took more than four months to sell; last year, when I sold another home, I listed it with Adams, and it took only one month. Thus, if you want to sell your home quickly and at a good price, you should use Adams.'

In this argument,the arguer claims that the real estate firm Adams sells house more quickly and are superior to Fitch.This assertion is based on the previous data that the Adams has more real estate agents than Fitch.Moreover,the arguer said that the Adams' revenue was twice as high as that of Fitch last year,the home sales are more than Fitch's,too.In order to support his conclusion,he raised an experience of his own that his house was sold out more than four months ten years ago by Fitch,while Adams spend only one month to sold his another home last year.Finally,the speaker believes Adams could sell people's home quickly and at a high price.At first glance,the argument seems very specific and convincing.A careful examination of it,however,would reveal how groundless it is.
In the first place,the arguement hold such an opinion that looking for a better real estate firms could sold out house quickly.It is too arbitrary to say so since the most significant of solding house is the qualities of houses themselves.If a house is poor built and located in a inferior place,it won't be quickly and idealy sold out.No matter how wonderful the agent firms is.
In the second place,it is too subjective to believe Adams is superior to Fitch just according to the number of agents and revenue listed.Although Adams has more real estate agents,the speaker failed to list the part-time workers it has.Further,despite Adams' revenue was higher than Fitch,but the average workers' working effiencies probably will be lower than Fitch.Moreover,the revenue is amused concept which couldn't explain the houses' own prices,since houses have different species,they are divided into luxurious and simple ones which have different values.If the Adams sold out luxurious houses in low price,its revenue is perhaps still higher.
Moreover,the speaker ignores an important problem that nine years is a long period during which countless things could be changed,such as the society,people's living condition and the level of consumptions.Although Fitch spend four months to sold out his home ten years ago,but it probably won't cost such a long time of Fitch to do so last year,may be it will use even less time than Adams.
In sum,this argument is a little bit arbitrary and injustice to give a conclusion.The author failed to supply enough grounds of arguments such as the two firms' comparison of nowadays in selling achievements,and the revenues of the same patterns of houses.The speaker is in absence of market investigation and working efficiencies.In order to sold out one's home quickly,not only the firm's achievements,but also the house's quality itself should also be taken into consideration. |
