What do scandals bring to the public? Are they usualful? The speaker thinks so. However, in my view, while scandals focus our attention on problems in ways that no speaker or reformor ever could, undue attentation taken on the scancals would distracts our attentation from the proceeding in politics, academia, or other areas.

In the politics realm, scandals of the politican can reveal the facts that few people know. For the scandals usually would bing negetive effect to the subject of the scandals, he or she would cover the scandals as possible as he or she can. And therefore, it is difficulty for the public to know the real facts. For example, the public would never know the chilling influence of the Nixon's policies until the Water Gates Affair. And the prepresident Clinton would be with good husbans figures without  his sex scandals. These scandals usually tell the public the  unknown face of the politians.

When it comes to the academics areas, we would be shocked by the some unknown scandals. Impetused by some benefits of the result on the reseach, some reseachers would rewrite some statistics of their experiments to meet their perfect expreiments. This local newspaper have reported that in order to get a better result of his long period experiment for a significant subject, a young worker in the  labory make up the statistic of the experiment and publish the results in an authouritative journalist. Based on his result, other reseacher put a big sum to the continue reseach. No doubt, they get nothing but  the confusion. These rewrited result bring harm not only to this young man but also to other reseachers. Without uncoving of the scandals, this young man's result would do bigger harm to the related academics areas.

However, undue attentation taken on the scandals would distract our attentation deserved from the relavant facts. To cater to the public's interests, the mass media usually pay more attentation on the scadals and even will exaggerate them. Alothough the report on the scandals inform the public the real fact, the reports also distract the attentation from the information the public deserved. For example, in the abovementioned Clinton's sex scandals, the public put a big sum to know the concrete informortion about it and omit Clinton's other merits in some extent. Overextent attentation payed on the scandals bring negetive influence to the society.

To sum up, scandals just like the other eye of the public, with which the public could know the facts that are covered  but important for the public. Nevetheless, overextent attentation on the scandals would hurt the public benefits.
