Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student.
Is it the case that only when education is specifically designed to meet individual needs and interestes of each student that it can be truly effective?only when….that用的好,学习中 The speaker claims so. In my point of view, I concede that it is a necessity for education to provide resources to meet students' demands and interests; however, if education is aimed to 好象没有aim to吧,建议改为;if education aims at satisfying ….satisfy the needs of every student, it may risk the inefficiency and some other problems.
One compelling argument in favor of the student-centered education has to do with the nature and purpose of education.
Education is not aiming to 不知行不??我只知道 aim at, 请教!mold all of the students into the same shape and quality; 加个连词好些吧!the nature and real purpose of it is to obtain and prompt the development of human beings as a whole and as individuals. This nature of education inherently requires the respect to various human needs and demands, as well as diverse interests. In the traditional teacher-centered and school-centered education, students could not develop their own interests in a free way, and this education mode often tends to overlooks the differencedifferent characteristics and internal capabilities as well as the individual interests of different students. Students in the traditional education mode study the same curricula, are imbued with the same values and thoughts, and even are molded into the same behavior style, which is harmful, to some extent, to the individuals as well as the society, since the progress of us human beings needs variety to develop creativity and ingenuity. Thus, the education needs to focus on and try best to meet the various individual needs and interests of different students.
However, there might be risks and problems if the education is completely student-oriented.
这儿该放个the吧!!First risk has to do with the problem that the complete student-centered method may be我建议用run contrary to the nature of the education upon which it is based. For example, the extent of different students' interests in learning English is different, and some even may be not interested是不是要加个in .. 或是该为dislike at all; however, English as a tool of communication is needed in this globalizing是globalization吧! world, especially for those in countries who speak English as thetheir native language, which calls for its learning. If the education system aims toat meet every student's interest, it should satisfy the disinterest of those who do not want to learn English-that is, does not require the English learning-which is harmful to the individuals, since mastery of language is crucial for one's progress. Under this circumstance, it acts against the inherent nature of education that aims to develop every student's internal abilities comprehensively. Thus, the student-centered education should be limited to a moderate confineconfination rather than extend it completely to all the educational contents.
Another problem with the complete student-oriented educational mode is that because of the limits of resources, which I mean the broader sense, such as faculty, space, time, etc, it is almost impossible to meet every student's needs.
The interests and demands of students are various; their needs on the curriculum, teaching styles, studying environments, etc, are all diverse; even the every student's demand is totally different from each other. Under this circumstance, how can the education system meet every need? Is it possible to provide every distinct demand with what it needs? Given the limited educational resources, no matter the faculty, the classroom space, or the administrative resources, it is almost impossible to reach the ideal.
Furthermore, even though we overcome all of the obstacles standing in the way of establishing such an educational system, whether it is really beneficial to our society is still open to doubt. In order to meet every student's need, it is essential to provide the enough resources-as discussed above-which are of large amount.
Then the resources allocated on other aspects of the development of our society will be reduced;看来你喜欢用分号,但是这里不可以吧,前后是并列关系吗? thus the progress of society in other aspects might be decelerated. In terms of this situation, we could not say whether it is beneficial to us, until we can measure the loss and benefits this education mode这个词是不是可以换一个,但是我也想不出 will bring to the society.
To sum up, I concede that it is necessary to meet different interests and needs of the students as supported by the nature and aim of education. Nevertheless, the extent of student-orient should be confined in a moderate degree, considered这个从句用的好,不过是不是该用considering the limit of resources and the risk of inefficiency that the complete student-centered mode may bring to us. Therefore, we should consider both the advantages and disadvantages it may take恰当吗?? before we design and implement such an education system.
