我刚写了一篇,帮我看看,4.12考.
Issue159
------题目------
The human mind will always be superior to machines because machines are only tools of human minds.
------正文------
The statement claims that machines will always be inferior to the human because machines are only tools of human minds.
While I quite agree that machines are products of human minds. whether I agree with the claim that our human mind will always be superior to machines to some extent depends on how one defines "superiority" or "inferiority", and the answer to the question why the human mind build machines.
Firstly, it is our nature that we always cannot help dreaming a sense of superiority over others. We hope to be an owner, no matter what would be our owning? During the history of human evolution, we have never been away from the dream. Now we define "superiority" as the meaning that we have ability of thinking, talking and communicating machines do not have; that we can smile, cry while machines cannot; that we can have our children while machines just copy themselves. However, the word "superiority" is instinct full of sense, which machines cannot feel. The claim that it is because machines are tools of human minds that they are inferior to human minds is very similar to an arbitrary saying " you are my slaves, therefore we are superior to you". Some may argue that slaves do have ability of independence thought. But who dare say that one day machines would not?
Moreover, few even dare not say that the human mind will go further without assistance of machines. Due to our basic needs of live, such eating, drinking, sleeping, and working, humans are used to using machines and now are even hardly able to do anything without machines. For eating, we need cookers; to communicate, by telephone. The invention of computers largely extends our ability of creativity and sets fire to the explosion of knowledge. Thanks to machines, we now probe into micro kingdom and explore out of solar system toward areas millions of light-years away from earth. In this case, we cannot arbitrarily draw the conclusion that human minds are superior to machines.
Finally, in my observation, the claim that human minds are superior to machines is a paradox. On the one hand, we hold the belief that human minds super ability of knocking open the door of unknown areas and creating new knowledge; on the other hand we deny our ability to create super human-like machines that live as we do and of course do many things that humans cannot. If one day, the human mind had succeed, we are always trying, in creating such machines, we would be so optimistic to claim that the human mind always be superior to machines. The directors and fiction writers always bring such scenes to us. A good example is the science fiction writer, Jules Verne, who had ever predicted, in his fictions, lots of technologies that today become true. Perhaps, Those we dreams today will really come true to us in near future.
In sum, we devise machines because they have numerous merits over us, in this case we have to concede that machines have "superiority" of their own. Also, it seems fair to claim superiority over machines for our independent thought. However, we will lose our superiority over machines some day for super competence and characters of those human minds create. |
