------题目------
The human mind will always be superior to machines because machines are only tools of human minds.
------正文------
Would human mind always gain ascendency over machines? Would machines always be the tools of us? I agree with the speaker insofar that human wisdom is superior to those manmade machines. Yet, that is not to say that human would always master those former "tools" in the unforeseeable future. Moreover, with rapid developments of science and technology, no one can conclude what would be bound to take place in the future.
Undoubtedly, human beings have won the superiority over machinery so far in the following two aspects. For one thing, machines have been created to highly increase social productivity and to largely improve human living conditions. The advent of the first powerful steam engine invented by Watt in 1760s has been regarded as a milestone in human modernization.By taking advantage of motorcars, trains, vessels and even space shuttles people can travel anywhere on earth or even to the moon, if necessary, in a limited time span. Especially after the invention of computers and the net, humans are tiptoeing in a new era of information explosion and high tech revolution. People follow the inspirations deep in their minds and then create those engines;with the help of which, human race has become intrepid confronting the nature and entitled themselves the ruler of the world till now.
For another, human minds are much more complicated and unfathomable than machines, which can not think by themselves today. Even the facts of the IBM Deep Blue's triumphs over world champion on chess, Gary Kasparov, could not indicate that the computer has been cleverer than humans. After all, it is human being who creates both chess and then the computer with the program imitating human players' hobbies and tactics. The computer, be it seemingly cute, suffers a chink in the armor--devoid of self-awareness. To some extent, Kasparov was defeated by himself and his congeners. Moreover, mankind is endowed with the creative and flexible intelligence. Otherwise, those "mechanical brains" could only comply with established directions instead of self-determination.
Nevertheless, the speaker's perception that the machines would be human instruments for ever underestimates the development of the machines and indeed undervalues the creativity of human beings. It is human's instinct to explore the unknown and to research the mysterious nature. That is the foundation all the human civilization built on. Continuing to investigate the nature of human thoughts and minds, people would probably find the key to human life, just as the discovery and deciphering of DNA chromosome as the first step. Nowadays we notice some kinds of high-tech robots which could imitate human expression vividly on exhibitions in Tokyo or New York; meanwhile we call them robots and I use the word "which" to represent them above. However, once we could "create" life to machines, they would be transformed into beings as a new race, enjoying the same entitlements as we do.
Furthermore, computers have shown fleet calculating qualification, and are likely to develop other superior ability to human's if they could have thought in their own favor. One can never foresee what would occur in the remote future, like our ancestors could hardly ever know or even imagine computers to have changed human's life that largely decades ago. Then how could we arbitrarily conclude that human would always control those "machines" in the future.
In conclusion, we could not tell what would likely happen in the future, so that it would be unconvincing to presume that mankind would retain the predominance over mechanism for ever. After all, human creates those machines and utilizes them for centuries to make a stride in the progress of human development. However, it is human nature to be creative and venturous, which insures the possibility of everything. nt. However, it is human nature to be creative and venturous, which insures the possibility of everything. That is why God created human and would not be willing to endow wisdom at the first place. While, people create machines and
are much likely to make them wiser. |
