     In the complex and diverse world, people place great emphasis on the role of academic study. Does the study of an academic discipline change the way we perceive the world? The speaker claims so and deems that after studying the discipline, we see the same world as before but with different eyes. I concede that the study of academic discipline is conducive for people to profoundly understand the world. Otherwise, from my point of view, after comprehending the truths in the world, people can make use of them to modify the world as well.


   In the first place, the study helps people better comprehend the truths which are behind the various phenomena in the world. Whatever the social field or natural domain, one can perceive the various phenomena at the rational attitudes with the process of study. In human society, people engage in diverse social activities such as economic activities, religious rituals and so on. Take the economic phenomena for instance. The research of economy reveals the truths concealed by the variety of economic affairs, which help people deeply apprehend the economic phenomena. For instance, the research of Karl Max regarding the market economy, reveal how the wealth can be produced and the people’s labor supports the development of the whole society's economy. Accordingly, after studying the economics, people can perceive the society with a deeper eye and have a more insight attitude towards the society. Meanwhile, in the field of natural world, the development of science help people better grasp the natural phenomena. The physics is conducive for people to know the physical truths which determine the motion and status of entities. The research of biology makes people understand the organization of human and animals. In addition, with the help of the study of astronomy, people profoundly comprehend the origin and development of universe. Consequently, with the evolution of study, it is certain that people can effectively perceive the world.


   In addition, as long as people master the laws of the world, people can utilize the laws to change the world. In today's world, the whole world has been greatly modified by people's intelligence. For instance, the industrial revolution, which is the most significant progress in human's history, is due to the advancement of science and technology. With the Newton's three classical mechanism laws, the people devise numerous inventions which greatly change the appearance of the world: the rocket running into the university, people reaching the moon and people flying in the air with the help of the planes. With these changes, people can overcome the limit of human and see the new phenomena in the world which can not be perceived in history. At this attitude, with the study of academic disciplines, not only can people realize the truths and laws of the world, but also they can utilize the laws to change the appearance of the world.


   Admittedly, even though people make great progress in the study of science and technology, there are still many phenomena which can not be well explained by people. With the development of study, the world is changing and developing as well. Consequently, it is indispensable for people to exert their intelligence and courage to find more truths and laws in the world. And only by the ceaseless efforts of human, people will ultimately recognize all the truths of the world and thus it is certain that people will entirely comprehend all the phenomena in the world.


   To sum up, it is likely that people overemphasize the complexity of today’s world.. Nevertheless, judging from what has been discussed above, we should to a large extent realize that it is the study of different academic fields that leads people to perceiving and modifying the world.

The following appeared as an editorial in a wildlife journal.
'Arctic deer live on islands in Canada's arctic region. They search for food by moving over ice from island to island during the course of a year. Their habitat is limited to areas warm enough to sustain the plants on which they feed, and cold enough, at least some of the year, for the ice to cover the sea separating the islands, allowing the deer to travel over it. Unfortunately, according to reports from local hunters, the deer populations are declining. Since these reports coincide with recent global warming trends that have caused the sea ice to melt, we can conclude that the decline in arctic deer populations is the result of deer being unable to follow their age-old migration patterns across the frozen sea.'

     In the argument, the arguer advocates that the decline in arctic deer populations is the result of deer being unable to follow their age-old migration patterns across the frozen sea. To substantiate the conclusion, the arguer reasons that the deer populations are declining according to reports from local hunters. In addition, the arguer provides the evidence that these reports coincide with recent global warming trends that have caused the sea ice to melt. However, a careful examination will reveal how groundless the conclusion is.


    In the first place, there is no sufficient evidence to demonstrate that the deer populations are declining. We are informed that the hunters report that the deer populations are decreasing which may not indeed reflect the practical conditions completely. Even though the hunters report the deer populations are declining, it does not mean that the number of the deer is indeed declining. It is highly likely that most deer are beyond the scope of the hunters and the hunters can not find the deer at all. Consequently, judging from the incomplete aspect of the hunters' report, the arguer can not convince us that the deer populations are indeed decreasing.


   In addition, the arguer fails to convince us that the warming trend results in the decrease number of deer. Firstly, the global warming trend can not accurately represent the local weather. For instance, although the global temperature is increasing, the local's temperature is still lasting very low and it is very cold in local. Besides, the arguer does not present any evidence to demonstrate that the see ice melt. Even though the temperature of local is higher than before, it is continue to be below 0, which means that the weather of that area can still make the sea frozen as before. Thirdly, even though the sea ice may melt, the arguer ignores the possibility that the deer can travel to the islands by swimming. Consequently, without showing the detail information regarding these aspects, we can not accept the conclusion that the warming trend leads to the declining deer populations.


   Finally, the arguer ignores other factors that may result in the decrease number of the deer. For example, the people hunt so many deer, which lead to the situation. It is likely that the hunters kill a great many deer and they avoid the punishment to say they can not find the deer. Besides, it is possible that the environmental pollution destroy the plants which are the food of the deer, which contributes to the decreasing population of deer. Accordingly, it is arbitrary for the arguer to draw the conclusion that the decline in deer populations is the result of deer being unable to go across the frozen sea.
