By doing so, people can keep the pace of the world, knowing things that interests them and that are provided by video camera, while written records take at least some time to be written after the writer have known what was going on. And it is the time lag that disadvantages written records so that they cannot compete with video camera for time's sake. The 911 tragedy, for instance, cannot be conveyed so fast to the world so real that the entire world knows the significance of the event so deeply.

What is also true is that video camera can provide a vividly record of what happens and it is real to a large extent, but unfortunately it cannot provide us a large perspective from which we can draw a more comprehensive picture of more than one place at once due to the limited lens of it. After all, one cannot look at one camera to know what takes place in one place, trying to know what is going on in other places at the same time. For example, while you are watching the real-time NBA all-star game which happens in New York, you inevitably lose the picture of a vogue show which is on in Milan at the exactly same time.

As to written records, it is nothing more than a piece of cake, for they can not only report the different events that are going on at the same time in different places, but also can cover the events that happens at various time in different time in a single report and, every so often, give them a comparison. What is more important is that the video camera cannot compete with the written records in the depth of the consequence of events. Take any article about the events review, and you will find that they almost, if not all, cover more than one event, causing people to think the relation and the difference between those things, which can make people know better about the whole situation rather than focusing on them respectively and, therefore get a relatively insular ideas about them.

To sum up, they are all necessary and of almost equally moment to our life, in that video camera has its own merits that outdo written records in reporting instantly, while it also has its own disadvantages that it will never do a better job than written records do in the depth of what are reported.
