issue159 人和机器 请帮我看看~~~
:( 最近好象感觉越来越差 离限时还很遥远
159 The human mind will always be superior to machines because machines are only tools of human minds.
Will the human mind always be superior to machines, given that they are the tools of human minds? I concede that machines are invented and developed to serve humans, but whether they are subordinate to human minds depends on what aspects the two are brought into comparison.
居然把开头粘掉了.
Machines are undoubtedly the tools of human minds. They are to modern people what stones tools are to primitive people. Taking place of plows, agricultural machines have been invented to better cultivate the lands for farmers. Thanks to the washing machines, thousands of housewives and househusbands rid the burdensome washing clothes by hands. With the advent of computers and other high technological products, people's efficiency has tremendously improved in almost every realm. I would be hard-pressed to think of one machine that does not point to meeting the human needs. In this light, we would safely say that machines are the tools of human minds.
Although machines are invented and developed to serve humans in one way or the other, we cannot deny the fact that machines, especially the newly designed computers, have already surpassed us in certain endeavors, such as calculation and reasoning. IBM's Deep Blue, one of the world's most powerful supercomputers, defeated Garry Kasparov, the best chess play on earth, in the year of 1997. While Kasparove generally relies on his experience and intuition to make every move on the chess board, Deep Blue , makes its own "decision" through millions of calculations for each step. Given the number-crunching powers of these computers , it is seems that human minds lag behind their counterparts-machines, in areas where multitudes of calculations and reasoning skills are found wanting. Moreover, the machines, unlike human minds, provided their physical well-being is kept under a stable condition-bearable temperature, sufficient power supply-they have no moods and are free from the influence of hormone.
Nonetheless, human minds are obviously superior to machines in areas characterized by originality and creativity. After all, no matter how powerful a machine can be , all of its competence attributes to the intelligence and hard work from those chip designers and code writers. Deep Blue, for example, can finish millions of calculation in a second just because it is programmed to do so. While ordinary people write books, draw pictures, make salves, Deep Blue can not -all are not contained in its instructions. In any area that requires something creative, or novel, machines soon become of awkwardly stubbornness with circuit-filled minds. Then the world's most powerful computer can be easily overridden even by an elementary student.
In sum, machines are created to serve humans in various ways, which functions to be the tools of human minds. While they exceed humans in calculations and reasoning , their lack of creativity makes renders them inferior to us . Anyhow, with the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence and Cybernetics , whether machines or human minds are superior to the other remains controversial. |
