Issue115, 看了中文提纲后觉得好像写跑题了,麻烦看一下是否离题了

115. "It is through the use of logic and of precise, careful measurement that we become aware of our progress. Without such tools, we have no reference points to indicate how far we have advanced or retreated."

In the rapid changing world with high technological advancement, there is a public controversial over the issue of whether the logic and precise measurement make us know about our progress. As a rule, among lots of measurement, two kinds influence us greatly. One is the time, while the other is the distance. People nowadays place much more emphasis on how far we made our progress than they used to do. Insofar as the logic and precise measurement connected our daily life along with the whole human civilization, it is regarded as the most fundamental and rational avenue to reflect our development. However, according to the speaker’s statement, there is no other reference to do that job. Depending on my own experience, further consideration should be taken into account before any conclusion is made.

First of all, time is the basic element to judge how fast or efficient we do our work, even live our daily life according to it, as we know about it that without it our society will fall into a chaos. In ancient time, people will use all day to hunt for food. By contrast, in the modern society, we could produce the mount of food in the time less than a day for ourselves. So in this case, time definitely illustrate our progress in food making. Moreover, we used to communicate each other by mail, which at least took several days to arrive. With the electronical development, we almost reject that time consuming way and accept the new efficient way, E-Mail, which only uses countable seconds, to communicate one another.

Second of all, the distance is another element that used accompany with time to measure things of our lives. Our forefathers used their feet to travel a long distance in most cases, or better on a horse on the land. Every body can see now, the fast equipment such as cars, buses, planes, ships, can take us to every place where our ancestors can not imagine at their times. Therefore, the measurement we use the regulate things can truely tell us whether we have advanced or retreated from the past.

Though the measurement can let us become aware of our progress, it is unwarranted and ridiculous to state that without such measurement we have no other reference points to indicate how far we have advanced or retreated. In my points of view, there are so many things can judge our progress, such as the food we eat , the entertainment we enjoy, the medical treatment we have, and so on. All things change as time goes by, so to broadly embrace the speaker's statement is going to undermine the original objectives.

In sum, from what has been discussed above, I fundamentally agree that through the precise and careful measurement we can determine how far we make our progress. Nevertheless, that is not the only way to follow. Therefore, there is not adequate evidence to support the author's the assertion.

In the rapid(rapidly)    changing world with high technological advancement, there is a public controversial ( 应该用名词吧)over the issue of whether the logic and precise measurement make us know about our progress. As a rule, among lots of measurement, two kinds influence us greatly. One is the time, while the other is the distance. People nowadays place much more emphasis on how far we made our progress than they used to do. Depending on my own experience, further consideration should be taken into account before any conclusion is made.(开头太长了)

Second of all, the distance is another element that used (be usded to )   accompany with time to measure things of our lives. Our forefathers used their feet to travel a long distance in most cases, or better on a horse on the land. 跑题谈不上,但是例子和结论之间似乎应该再加一点阐释。但就现在文章看,好像没有纵向可比性。只能说明科技进步了。但是这个进步优势如何通过您说的距离体现呢?
