I'm satisfied with life

When I was young, I asked my parents about everything I didn't know. I asked about the nature, the society, the people and even myself, such as where I came from, why I am Danny, instead of being anybody else, why everybody has to die, ...etc. I remember I told my father that I don't want to die.

Time slips away so fast that I'm now 31 years old. And I know I have spent 16 years for learning and getting my degree, another 8 years for working and earning money. I've experienced a lot of things: being a translator, a salesman in a foreign country, being kicked out, betrayed, loved and disloved, being a husband and a father in the near future. I feel it's the way my life goes, and I know I am on the right road to my final destination.

I'm satisfied with my life, so far so good. Of course, I do have things to regret, people to hate and remember. Those painful memories torture me sometimes, whenever I can't feel asleep at night. I ask my self: Am I 30 years old already? Jesus, I don't wanna be old, and I hate getting old.

Everybody dies in this world, sooner or later. The names of some people will be remembered, while most of them will not. I do not have the ambition to be the chairman of China or a president of any country, cause I know I don't have the gift. That is my fate! I am doomed to be a common guy, living in China and having my common life.

Seeing those beggars bagging in the street, those farmer workers getting no salaries, those vendors being chased over by cops or whoever with red armbands, those homeless and jobless, the rich and the poor, I realized my power is so limited that I could barely do anything to change the situation.

Except for making myself and my small family comfortable, what else could I do? So I am satisfied with my life, not only because I have my own condo, vehicle, but I have a nice job and a perfect wife. She's going to spend the rest of her life with me. Watching my wife feel asleep, I smiled, with a long sign, though.
