Nowadays the relationship between contemporary culture and young people is under fierce discussion of socialists. Some of them think that the most effective way of learning contemporary culture is to study the trends of its youth, while the others hold opinion that young people cannot stand for the social popular culture. As far as I am concerned, I tend to agree with the formal one.

At first, it is not hard to find that almost all entertainment business focuses on the commercials that favored by adulescent. In fact, the youth are far more easy to be exited and addicted into fashion deeds, such as popular movies, songs and PC games, than matured adults. As a result, they will spend countless money on these leisure programs and communicate with their friends about more information of them. Then a popular trend of contemporary culture is formed. The campaign of soft drink-Coca Cola-advertisement is a typical example. It makes construct with no one else but the most welcomed movie stars and pop music singers of children to act in its ads in order to attract their concern so as to buy the products of it. Meanwhile, the ads themselves become one part of the popular culture. From this case we can draw that the study on youth will effectively lead socialists to exactly understand contemporary culture because they are the largest market of products of this culture.

At the second place, young people have already played an important role in the creating work of popular civilization by themselves. Not only be the center of enjoying group, adulecent are also take pare in the program of fostering fashion culture. As they are of more sensibility of developing world and technology as well as potential motions than their parents, who concentrate most on the busy work and daily pressure, youth always need new forms to express their feelings to the outside society. Consequently, they create some special phenomena as parts of contemporary culture. The survey conducted by CYC (Chinese Young Commitment) may strongly support my view. According to the survey, about 79% popular culture appear with the effort made by people under age 18, while 90% popular commercials such as Internet novels, Internet songs and so forth are attributed to works of students in high schools. These data reveal that the knowing of youth in a society is key of understanding of contemporary culture because they are the creators of it.

However, admittedly, this kind of culture is more or less different with the traditional one. Although it is also very useful to analyze this trend, people had better not be misled by the brilliant appearance of it and try to find the pith of the culture. No matter how the figures in pop songs and movies differ from formal conceptions of cultures as classic literature books, extraordinary paintings and so on, and no matter how they seems unconventional, the most important thing is that this trend represents unchangeable pursuit of human for true beauty and honor, only that they need to be guided correctly.

Generally speaking, the study on youth of a society will certainly helps to better control the trend of contemporary culture. People had better treat it object and try to research on the real voice of young people under the colorful surface of these popular things.
