几天前的修改了,今天贴出来。
When investigating the social problems in the world, people often find some similarity in different nations. So could all nations develop a global university designed to engage students in the process of solving the world’s most persistent social problems mutually? Though the thought[idea是不是更好一些] would be reasonable to some extent, the feasibility and the practical effects may be dubious.
I concede that building up a global university would undoubtedly supply a good environment for students and experts from different nations to discuss the common social problems with which people all over the world are confronted. For instance, the energy crisis, the environmental issues, the healthy problems are all the critical problems we should front. If all nations could successfully build up a global university, where the youth and professors from various countries could freely exchange views as well as share the technology to help control and solve the problems, people worldwide would benefit from it and many disputes can be easily avoided by plenty of communication and understanding.
However, global university is just a place fostering the preparatory person with ability to solve persistent social problems, which is far from solving the detailed problems in practice. On one hand, just like a student in a school of cook may know how many components should be put to cook, but he/she can not necessarily cook as delicious as a experienced cook. [这个例子不错,很形象]Social problems are often solved by certain research institutes and the governments with rich experience. On the other hand, solving social problems calls for a financial support, which is impossible for a university to afford consider that the first purpose of a university is educating. Thus, the prospective function of the global university is incredible.
More importantly, even if the global university will be able to assist people to solve the most persistent social problems, nevertheless, it is impractical to require all nations to support the development of the university. As we all know, people in many poor countries are still miserable with[suffering from] hunger and disease, and what they are in urgent need is only ample food. For these conutries, money and energy payed[paid,呵呵] for supplying people with things to eat and wear are not enough yet, how could we request them to support a global university? Further, if the global university is built up and governed by few rich countries, how should we assure that it is designed to solve the world’s most persistent social problems rather than just be designed to solve the social problems in the rich countries and serves only for the few countries?
In sum, it is true that by developing a global university, some [of] the world’s most persistent social problems would be discussed and some solutions would be shared. But it cannot guarantee to effectively solve the solution[solution不是被solve的,是被develop出来的并被carry out或实现的。用solve problem也可以,但和后面就重复了] in that solving problems needs money and experience and other things. In addition, it is improper to demand all nations, despite of the economic level, to support the global university.
嗯,as usual, 逻辑清楚有条理.不错不错,继续努力。 |
