------题目------
The following appeared as part of an article in a health and beauty magazine.
'A group of volunteers participated in a study of consumer responses to the new Luxess face cream. Every morning for a month, they washed their faces with mild soap and then applied Luxess. At the end of that month, most volunteers reported a marked improvement in the way their skin looked and felt. Thus it appears that Luxess is truly effective in improving the condition of facial skin.'
------正文------
Form this excerpt, the arguer indicate that a group of volunteers took part in a study of a kind of new face cream named Luxess, and conclude that the face cream is effective according to most of volunteers' responds. In first glance, the statement sounds reasonable, but further scrutiny point out that it is unpersuasive with several logical flaws.

First of all, the arguer does not account for whether the volunteers participated in the study of consumer could represent the entire consumer. Since they are volunteer to join the study, maybe they are more concerned about the face and skin maintenance. So they are good at protecting their appearance, and could not represent the whole consumer including those who know little about tend. And we are not informed the quantity of the volunteers. If the sample is too small, the conclusion based on it turns out to be unconvincing.

Furthermore, the procedure of the study also has two questionable points. 1) Since the volunteers used both mild soap and Luxess, the arguer did not rule out the effect of mild soap. It is entirely possible that the mild soap contributed to the improvement of the condition of facial skin. If so, we could not ensure that Luxess is truly effective. 2) The arguer does not indicate whether the study period is long enough to draw conclusion. Usually, such makeup needs longer time to test its efficacy. This study only lasted one month and makes us doubt its persuasion.

In addition, we are also not informed that how many respondents reported a marked improvement and the extent of their skin looked and felt better than before. Without more details and strong evidence to support the reliability of the study consequence, we could not fully believe what the arguer stated and could not accept the arguer's recommendation.

In sum, the argument has some problematic points which render it not reasonable as it stand. To bolster it, the arguer should justify that the volunteers in the study could represent all the consumers. And evidence ruling out the mild soap's effect is also necessary. More details about consequence should further be explained too.

Form this excerpt, the arguer indicate that a group of volunteers took part in a study of a kind of new face cream named Luxess, and conclude that the face cream is effective according to most of volunteers' responds.(这里可以更简练一点,开门见山) In first glance, the statement sounds reasonable, but further scrutiny point out that it is unpersuasive with several logical flaws.(最好能概括的支出错在哪里

First of all, the arguer does not account for whether the volunteers participated in the study of consumer (paticipants/volunteer 就可以了)could represent the entire consumer.

It is entirely possible that the mild soap contributed to the improvement of the condition of facial skin(instead of/ not the Luxess). If so,(In this circumstances) we could not ensure that Luxess is truly effective.

Without more details and strong evidence to support the reliability of the study consequence, we could not fully believe what the arguer stated and could not accept the arguer's recommendation.(感觉这里不够深入,还是没有下到位,顾客自己的感觉不准确,那么可能的实际情况又是怎么样,。。。)

In sum, the argument has some problematic points which render it not reasonable as it stand. To bolster it, the arguer should justify that the volunteers in the study could represent all the consumers. And evidence ruling out the mild soap's effect is also necessary. More details about consequence should further be explained too.
